The present invention is directed to a method for supplying an optical security element in a value document, as well as to an accordingly devised apparatus for adjusting an optical security element as well as to the value document per se. According to the invention a method is proposed which makes it possible to supply a known optical security element in an especially simple technical way, without a vapor deposition of embossed structures being necessary in this connection. An easily manufacturable multilayer security element has an opaque functional layer that is arranged between two build-up layers of transmissive material. The opaque functional layer has at least one cutout. The layers are connected by lamination to form an areal body with planar surfaces. The cutout is filled up with transmissive material of the build-up layers. One build-up layer supports a feature carrier layer. A security feature, which is arranged at least partially below the cutout, is formed in the feature carrier layer and/or between the functional layer and the feature carrier layer. The cutout forms an inner window through which the security feature is recognizable.

Multilayer security element

A method for producing a finishing layer containing a window () for a portable data storage medium, in particular a chip card, and the use of the method for producing a data storage medium. A transparent plastic-based support layer () is used and an opaque color layer () is applied on the support layer in a screen printing process, wherein the color layer () has a recess () having the dimensions of the window (). A first layer () of a transparent primer is then screen printed onto the color layer and a design color layer () is then applied in an offset printing process onto the first layer. A second layer () of a transparent primer is applied in an offset printing process on top of the design color layer () and a transparent finish () is finally applied onto the second layer ().
