A radar system for determining a distance to another radar system includes a transceiver. The transceiver transmits a first Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave, FMCW, radar signal. The first FMCW radar signal includes a first sweep profile. The transceiver is receives a second FMCW radar signal. The second FMCW radar signal includes a second sweep profile which differs from the first sweep profile. The radar system further includes a mixer which generates a beat signal based on the first and second FMCW radar signals. The radar system further comprises a deskewing unit which deskews the beat signal by matching the sweep profiles of the first and second FMCW radar signals. Further a method for determining a distance between radar systems, a system for determining a distance between first and second radar systems and a method for determining a distance between first and second radar systems.

Mismatched frequency modulated continuous wave radar signal

A radar system for providing position information to a mobile unit is provided. The radar system comprises a receiving interface. The receiving interface is adapted to receive radio frequency, RF, signals. The radar system further comprises a processing unit. The processing unit is adapted to process the received RF signals. The processing unit is adapted to determine an occupation of a predetermined time-frequency space by the received RF signals. The radar system further comprises a transmitting interface which adapted to transmit information on an intention of the radar system to occupy a specific portion of the predetermined time-frequency space. The radar system further comprises a plurality of beacon units. The beacon units are adapted to provide position information of the radar system on the specific portion in the predetermined time-frequency space, when it is determined that the specific portion of the predetermined time-frequency space is not occupied.

Synchronized radar networks

A system for synchronizing transceivers which includes a first and second plurality of transceivers. The first plurality of transceivers are arranged at fixed positions with respect to each other. One of the first plurality of transceivers is configured to transmit a first wideband signal. The second plurality of transceivers are arranged at fixed positions with respect to each other. Each of the second plurality of transceivers is configured to receive the first wideband signal and to generate a respective one of second wideband signals based on the respectively received first wideband signal modified by a respective one of offsets which differ from each other, and to transmit the respective one of second wideband signals. The one of the first plurality of transceivers is configured to receive the second wideband signals which form the basis for synchronizing one of the first plurality of transceivers with the second plurality of transceivers.

Local positioning system synchronization using one and two-way artificial delay compensation

A system for calibrating a transmitting unit includes an arrangement of at least four transmitting units. A first transmitting unit has stored position data with respect to a setpoint position of the first transmitting unit. The first transmitting unit is designed to emit a first transmission signal to each of the three remaining transmitting units, each of which is designed to receive the first transmission signal and, thereafter, to return a first response signal to the first transmitting unit. The first transmitting unit is designed to determine its relative position data with respect to the three remaining transmitting units on the basis of the first response signals returned and to detect a deviation between the stored position data and the relative position data determined and to carry out a calibration of a transmission parameter of the first transmitting unit on the basis of the detected deviation.

A system for determining the position of a transmitting unit has an arrangement of at least four transmitting units. A first transmitting unit is designed to emit a first transmission signal to each of the three remaining units, each of which is designed to receive the first transmission signal and, thereafter, to return a first response signal to the first unit. The three remaining units each have stored position data relating to desired positions of the arrangement. The first unit is designed to: determine its relative position data relative to the three remaining units based on the returned first response signals, obtain the stored position data relating to the desired positions from the three remaining units, and assign the determined relative position data to the obtained position data relating to a single desired position to determine the position of the first unit within the arrangement based on the assignment.
