The subject-matter is a motor vehicle having a drive system which acts on the wheels of an axle via an automatic limited-slip differential (ASD) in dependence on the driving speed and on the slip of the driving wheels, rotational-speed sensors being provided for each vehicle wheel and a control logic circuit being provided which processes the signals of the rotational-speed sensors and other signals to form control signals for connecting and disconnecting the limited-slip differential, taking into consideration the driving-dynamic aspects in the respective driving condition, the limited-slip differential being combined with a wheel slip control (ASR) which exclusively acts on the drive torque of the vehicle engine in order to ensure a high measure of traction and driving stability overall with low expenditure.

A control variable propulsion control is obtained by taking the difference between: vehicle acceleration sensed by an accelerated sensor and vehicle acceleration derived from a driven axle or a driven wheel rotational speed as sensed by a high resolution sensor for vehicle speeds below a predetermined speed; and between vehicle acceleration derived from non-driven axle or non-driven wheels via a conventional rotational speed sensor and acceleration derived from speed sensed by the high resolution sensors for vehicle speeds above the predetermined speed.

Propulsion control for vehicles

A device for controlling at least one variable influencing the drive torque of a motor vehicle uses the difference between acceleration of a driven wheel and the vehicle longitudinal acceleration as a control variable. The exceeding of a slip threshold within specific time windows after the driven wheel speed has fallen below the threshold or after increasing the drive torque is used as a check for the correct dosage of drive torque and the slip threshold itself is adjusted depending on the vehicle longitudinal acceleration. This permits an optimum propulsive acceleration and the control device to adapt to changing road conditions.

A system for controlling at least one variable influencing the drive torque of an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle, with an electronic throttle control, an electronic ignition timing control and a control device which becomes active when there is a tendency to spin of at least one driven wheel. The instantaneous engine speed is stored and the drive torque reduced to a certain value, assigned to the engine speed, and subsequently increased again, at a rate of rise dependent on the engine speed, when the tendency of spin of the driven wheel subsides. Consequently, major excess torque are avoided and greater traction and lateral control force is achieved.

In a system for controlling the propulsion on motor vehicles, by a reduction of the drive torque by an intervention in ignition, carburator or fuel injection and/or brakes, includes a first device which reduces the drive torque when the maximum adhesion coefficient is exceeded, and a second device which reduces the drive torque to a value associated with the measured maximum value of the vehicle acceleration when the monitored wheel variable exceeds the threshold value, as a result of which too great an excess of torque is prevented and sufficient traction and cornering stability are retained without unnecessarily slowing down a propulsion of the motor vehicle.

An arrangement for the control of at least one magnitude influencing the driving torque of an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle in conjunction with a drive slippage regulating system is provided with a regulating system which undertakes the follow-up control of this magnitude to a predetermined desired value in steps dependent on vehicle- and outside-dependent magnitudes with an increase velocity also dependent on vehicle and outside, as a result of which excess torques reducing the traction and lateral guidance force are avoided and regulating operations which become necessary are significantly shortened.

An installation for the forward drive regulation acting on the output torque of a drive aggregate in motor vehicles with a regulating circuit responding to the slippage of each driven wheel on which is superimposed a regulating circuit responding to exceeding an acceleration threshold value of each driven wheel which replaces the slippage regulating circuit designed for optimum traction from the regulation beginning for a predetermined duration and as a result thereof rapidly stabilizes the vehicle because only a small excess torque which can be controlled in few regulating cycles, can occur owing to the early regulation beginning.

An arrangement for controlling the propulsion or forward drive in the sense of preventing an undesired slippage of the wheels to be regulated in motor vehicles equipped with four-wheel drive, in which a driving velocity-reference signal necessitated for the regulation is derived from the minimum wheel velocity and the reference velocity is set during each regulating cycle anew into the range of the optimum friction.

An installation for the propulsion regulation in motor vehicles acting on the output torque of the driving aggregate for preventing the undesired slippage of the driven vehicle wheels, whereby in case of determining the slippage tendency of a driven wheel, the magnitude determining the output torque is stored and subsequently reduced to its minimum value, is increased after the termination of the acceleration phase of this wheel to a value coordinated to the maximum value of the wheel acceleration which had occurred, is kept constant at this value, and in case of a determination of the ending of the slippage tendency, is increased by a further value coordinated to the maximum value of the wheel deceleration that had occurred whereby the delayed reaction of the drive aggregate is counteracted and a more rapid regulation with slight excess torque and fewer regulating cycles is attained.
