A heat exchanger from a stack of plate pairs having fins which are disposed between the plate pairs, and having ducts which vertically extend through the stack, for conveying in and/or conveying out a medium which flows through the plate pairs and which exchanges heat with another medium which flows through the fins, wherein the ducts are formed from openings in the plates and have moldings which extend around opening peripheries, and having a plate, having corresponding openings, which finishes off the stack, wherein a thermally decoupling element, which is inserted either in an integrated or a separate manner and which is incorporated into the vertical duct formation, is disposed between the finishing-off plate and the stack. Such a heat exchanger displays improved resilience to alternating temperature loadings.

Brazed heat exchanger

The invention relates to an indirect-type air cooler by way of which compressed charge air for an internal-combustion engine is cooled by means of a liquid, wherein the air cooler is constructed from stacked pairs of plates having fins which are disposed therebetween, and the brazed stack is disposed in a housing into which the charge air flows, flows through the fins and exits the housing again. The charge air exchanges heat with the liquid which flows in the plate pairs and which is introducible into the plate pairs via at least one inlet and via inlet-side plate openings which are flush in the stack and is dischargeable via at least one outlet by means of flush outlet-side plate openings. In order to further improve the performance potential of the air cooler, at least one venting element which extends to the exterior through an opening of the housing is connected to a liquid space within the stack.

Indirect-type air cooler

A heat exchanger assembly, by means of which compressed charge air for an internal combustion engine is cooled by way of a liquid, includes a housing with a heat exchanger that has a stack of pairs of plates and fins which are arranged between the pairs, and has two longitudinal sides and two transverse sides. Flow plates are arranged in the plate pairs and, toward the longitudinal sides, expose in each case one edge channel within the plate pairs. An inlet and an outlet are connected to the edge channels, and a liquid flows through the flow plates between the edge channels, the liquid flowing in counterflow with respect to the charge air which flows in on one side of the housing, through the fins, and leaves the housing again on an opposite other side.

Heat exchanger assembly

An intake manifold for a charged internal combustion engine has an intercooler provided with coolant connectors that is disposed in an intake manifold housing. The intake manifold housing has at least two housing parts including a basic housing part. The intake manifold housing is provided with at least one inlet and at least one outlet for charge air and is further provided with at least one passage for the coolant connectors of the intercooler. The intercooler is arranged between the at least one inlet and the at least one outlet so as to be flowed through by the charge air. The intercooler is fastened in the basic housing part by a fastening device such that the intercooler separates at least on one side of the basic housing part the at least one inlet seal-tightly from the at least one outlet.

Intake manifold with an intercooler

A brazed plate heat exchanger with at least one stack of heat exchanger plates and at least one functional component connected by piping physically and in terms of flow to the stack, for example, a collecting tank, in which case the stack executes a settling movement during brazing. Production is achieved in that the plate heat exchanger with the functional component is produced in a vacuum brazing furnace in a single brazing process, in which at least one structure is contained in the piping that compensates for the settling movement of the plate stack. A corresponding production method is also proposed.

Brazed plate heat exchanger with a functional component

A stub connection for a heat exchanger that is arranged in a housing and has a stack including plates and fins. The housing consists of housing parts which can be joined together, and at least one first stub for a first heat-exchanging medium being integrated directly into the housing. The stub connection also includes at least one second stub for a second heat-exchanging medium that extends to outside the housing. The at least one second stub is configured for the connection of a line and is integrated directly or indirectly into the housing.

Heat exchanger and production method

A heat exchanger arrangement in a housing, such as an intake pipe of an internal combustion engine, has at least one stack including tubes and fins and an end plate having media connections, and wherein the stack is inserted into the housing and is fastened therein. A connecting block which contains the media connections and/or at least one profiled rail is arranged on the end plate. The housing has at least one cross-section-expanding wall graduation and/or at least one receptacle integrated into the housing wall, wherein the connecting block sits in the cross-section expansion and/or a cross section of the receptacle corresponds approximately to a cross section of the rail.

Heat exchanger arrangement in a housing

A stub connection for a heat exchanger that is arranged in a housing. The stub connection includes a first part which is fastened to the heat exchanger and a second part which has a stub shank extending through an opening in the housing and is seated in a hole of the first part. The stub connection also includes at least two seals. The first seal is an annular seal, which is seated in a groove of the stub shank and the second seal is a gasket, which is arranged between the opening, the stub shank, and the first part. The first seal is seated in the hole and seals between the stub shank and the first part.

Heat exchanger housing connection

Methods for producing slots in tube walls are described and illustrated, along with devices for producing slots in tube walls. In some cases, a first number of punches arranged in a row pierce through the tube wall and in so doing produce slots, followed by another number of punches piercing through the tube wall in such a way that the slots produced by the first number of punches alternate with respect to the slots produced by the second number of punches. Also, in some cases an internal support is used, whereby small slots are first produced in the tube wall while the internal support is within the tube. After the internal support is removed, the slots are widened to finished dimensions. The internal support can include upper and lower parts designed to engage one another in a sawtooth or undulating manner.

System and method for producing apertures in tubes

The invention relates to a heat exchanger (e.g., a charge air cooler) having a cooling body composed of flat tubes arranged at intervals and having corrugated fins positioned in the intervals. The charge air in the flat tubes can be cooled by cooling air flowing through the corrugated fins. The heat exchanger can include a flow connector and an integrated pre-cooler in which a medium, for example charge air, is cooled by means of a coolant. The pre-cooler/post cooler can be integrated into a section of the cooling body. A flow connector composed of at least two tubular parts which can be plugged one into the other, locked and sealed, can include a partitioning wall extending in one of the parts. At least one inlet connection and/or at least one outlet connection can be arranged on one or the other of the parts.

Heat exchanger with a flow connector

A quick-action closure coupling for connecting a supply or discharge line to a wall of a collecting tank of a heat exchanger. The coupling can include a first coupling part and a second coupling part dimensioned to mate together. At least one sealing ring can be positioned between the first and second coupling parts. A latch can be provided in order to lock the coupling parts together. In order to simplify the quick-action closure coupling, the terminal end of the one coupling part can have a mitered cutout into which is received a portion of the other coupling part.

Quick connector for a heat exchanger, such as a radiator

A plate heat exchanger for cooling a first fluid by a second fluid, including a plurality of stacked heat exchanger plates forming separate flow channels therebetween with a cover plate on one side and a base plate on the other side of the stacked plates. The plates have a plurality of aligned openings defining inlet and outlet channels each communicating with selected ones of connected flow channels. In one form, the cover plate includes a conveying channel guiding one of the fluids to a desired position along the length of the heat exchanger, and the base plate includes a conveying channel guiding the other of the fluids to a desired position along the length of the heat exchanger. In another form, the conveying channels for both of the fluids are in the same one of the cover or base plate.

Plate heat exchanger

A heat exchanger, including first and second collecting tanks with an inlet, an outlet, and an opening through a wall of the first tank. At least one row of tubes extends between the collecting tanks, and the tubes and tanks carry a first medium and a second medium flows through the spaces between the tubes. A first partition divides the first collecting tank and defines an opening therethrough, and a second partition divides the second collecting tank, with the first and second partitions defining separate loops for the first medium when the first partition opening is closed. A discharge device selectively either simultaneously opens both the first collecting tank opening and the first partition opening for emptying or simultaneously closes both the first collecting tank opening and the first partition opening for operation.

Heat exchanger for multiple cooling loops

A fastening between a fan shroud and a heat exchanger, the fastening including a plurality of cooperating fastening devices about the outer edge of the shroud and heat exchanger. At least one of the cooperating fastening devices comprises a locking hook on one edge of the shroud, a mount on an edge of the heat exchanger corresponding to the shroud one edge, a stop on the corresponding heat exchanger edge spaced from the mount slot in a direction opposite a first direction, and an elastically flexible extension on the locking hook including a locking tab. The mount defines a slot adapted to receive the locking hook from the first direction. The extension is elastically biased toward an interfering position between the locking tab and the stop when the locking hook is received in the mount slot, and is manually engageable to flex the extension to a releasing position in which the locking tab does not interfere with the stop.

Mount for fan shroud on heat exchanger

A cooling unit is provided for use with a cooling system of an internal combustion engine. The cooling system includes an air-cooled radiator to reject heat from a coolant of the internal combustion engine. The cooling unit comprises an air-cooled heat exchanger to reject heat from another medium to an air flow, an air receiver and at least one releasable clamp. The heat exchanger includes an inlet for the air flow, an outlet for the air flow, and an outer perimeter extending between the inlet and the outlet. The air receiver is connectable to the radiator and surrounds the outer perimeter of the heat exchanger. The air receiver includes an inlet end for the air flow, an outlet end for the air flow, and an air duct extending between the inlet end and the outlet end to direct the air flow from the outlet of the heat exchanger to the outlet end of the air receiver. The inlet end and the inlet are substantially coplanar. The clamp is engaged with the air receiver to tighten the air receiver against the heat exchanger.
