A sheet metal nut including a cage part () that is fitted with a bottom plate (), supporting edge sections, and opposite side plates (). Contacting final sections () are disposed across from the supporting edge sections and grip the peripheral zones of a hole along with the supporting edge sections in a mounted arrangement of the sheet metal nut. The supporting edge sections are molded onto the bottom plate () while a separate securing part () is joined to the side plates () and is equipped with two leg plates () that are located between the side plates () and extend from a base region () towards the supporting edge sections () at an increasing distance from each other. The contacting final sections () are molded onto one respective free end of a leg plate (), are aligned with their front sides directed towards one another, and lie across from the supporting edge sections ().

Sheet metal nut

A fastening device to be fitted into a support part () has a cover plate () and two clamping arms (). Each clamping arm () has an inner leg () and an outer leg () which has a bracing structure on its end facing the cover plate (). The bracing structure of each clamping arm () is provided with two flat side cheeks () that are joined to mutually opposite side margins () of the respective outer leg () and extend toward the other clamping arm (). Each side cheek () has an end face () that is oriented at an angle to the cover plate () and falls away toward the respective outer leg () from the end remote from that outer leg (). The fastening device according to the invention can consequently be used in the presence of relatively high extraction forces with support parts that vary in thickness over a relatively large range.

Fastening device

A process for production of a two-part cage nut from a single metal plate. The cage nut includes a nut slidably carried on a holding part. The nut includes a base plate having a threaded sleeve. The holding part includes a holding plate having an aperture and a pair of side walls which are bent over the edge of the base plate of the nut. The process production includes stamping the holding part and nut from a single metal plate. The nut is joined to the base plate by a narrow connecting web. The base plate is then bent about the connecting web and positioned over the holding plate between the side walls. The side walls are bent inwardly until they extend over the side edges of the base plate of the nut. The nut is separated from the holding plate by shearing off the now bent over portion of the connecting web. The nut is permitted to slide between boundary tabs on a guide path between the side walls.

Process for production of a two-part cage nut

A metal dowel for anchorage in a wall panel, said dowel being made from a folded blank of sheet metal and comprising a pair of flat leg members folded over at one end to lie flat against each other, the legs tapering toward the folded end to form a pointed end to the dowel and being held together at said folded end by a breakable web formed by the fold between said legs. The leg members are fixedly connected together at the opposite end to form a head end to the dowel and a threaded hole is formed out of and located between the legs adjacent the head end of the dowel with a funnel-shaped recess formed out of and located between said legs being axially aligned with said threaded hole and located between the threaded hole and the pointed end. After insertion of the dowel pointed end first into a panel, threading of a threaded member into the threaded hole with the tip thereof entering into said recess, breaks the web and forces the legs apart to anchor the dowel in the panel.

Metal dowel for anchorage in thin wall panels

A holding clamp for connecting together two sheets of material, at least one of which is susceptible to expansion. The clamp has a thread leg having a thread portion for receipt of a threaded member and a pair of clamping legs integrally joined at one end to form a C-shaped structure adapted to receive therebetween a sheet of expandable material, the thread leg being connected to an opposite end of one of the legs of the clamp. Each clamping leg has a through hole in line with the thread portion of the thread leg through which can pass the threaded member and an annular flange around each through hole that extends inwardly from the inner surface of each clamping leg that faces the other clamping leg and toward said other leg, the flanges abutting each other when the two clamping legs are brought together by the threaded member to keep the two legs apart a distance greater than the thickness of the expandable sheet. At least one spring lobe projects inwardly from each clamping leg that engages with opposite side surfaces of the sheet when the flanges abut to hold the clamp against the sheet while permitting it to slide relative to the lobes due to expansion.

Holding clamp for connecting sheets having different expansion

A retaining clip for fastening a construction part to a carrier plate, in which the retaining clip has a supporting plate that rests on the carrier plate, a clamping tab for holding the part to the clip and a compressible fastening sleeve formed of two sleeve wall halves for anchoring the clip in a hole in the carrier plate. At least one of the sleeve halves has a pair of outwardly projecting, resiliently compressible hooks that pass through the hole and then engage the plate from behind when the sleeve of the clip is pressed into the hole to hold the clip in place, and a pair of tabs adjacent the hooks that project outwardly beyond the edges of the hole on the front side of the carrier plate, so that when the tabs are squeezed together, the hooks will be released and the clip can be readily removed.
