A method for copy protection in which an audiovisual or audio data is divided into a plurality of portions. The plurality of portions is at least partly scrambled and prepared so as to be stored on a record carrier in the scrambled order. This is done so that a physical position on the record carrier, e.g., a sector of the record carrier, where a respective portions of the divided data is stored depends on the scrambled order.

Method for copy protection

Method for converting non copy protected data into copy protected data. The non copy protected data includes data structure data, controlling data and content data. The content data are embedded into data structures defined by the data structure data, and are processed using the controlling data. The method includes transferring part of the data structure data or the controlling data via a first network, from a first to a second network location, generating modified data structure data or modified controlling data at the second network location based on the data structure/controlling data supplied to the second network location, transferring the modified data structure/controlling data via a second network from the second to a third network location, where the copy protected data is generated by embedding the content data into modified data structures based on the modified data structure data or by replacing the controlling data with the modified controlling data.

Method for converting non copy protected data into copy protected data

A method for copy protection includes providing audiovisual or audio data stored in sectors of a record carrier having a file system, and providing additional or modified data to be stored in further sectors. The method includes generating a first file of the file system referencing at least a part of the sectors and none of the further sectors, so when the first file is rendered by a playback device, the data is reproduced which is included in the part of the sectors. The method also includes generating a second file of the file system being another file than the first file and referencing at least a part of the sectors and further referencing at least one of the further sectors, such that when the second file is rendered by the playback device the part of the sectors and the at least one of the further sectors are reproduced.

Method and devices for copy protection, copy protected record carrier

A method for copy protection includes providing audiovisual or audio data stored in sectors of a record carrier having a file system, and providing additional data to be stored in further sectors. The method includes generating first and second files referencing respective first and second parts of the sectors and respective further first and second parts of the further sectors, so when the first and second files are completely rendered by a playback device, respective first and second parts of the data and respective further first and second parts of the additional data are reproduced. The method also includes determining program instructions, which when executed by the playback device, control switching between reading the first file and the second file, and when the record carrier is an original, switching is controlled so only the sectors and none of the further sectors are read such that no additional data is reproduced.

A record carrier for storing at least one stream of linked content cells thereon, which linking is performed based on navigation data. The record carrier includes modified navigation data and/or a stream arrangement of at least one stream of linked content cells, so that an access of the at least one stream of linked content cells on the record carrier under consideration of the navigation data is not disturbed, whereas a generally linear access of the at least one stream of linked content cells on the record carrier is disturbed.

DVD copy protection

An optical disc including: sectors each having a sector ID; a first area having a first set of sectors sequentially arranged on the disc according to their respective IDs; a second area having a second set of sectors sequentially arranged on the disc according to their respective IDs, the second area being located after the first area in respect of a disc scan direction, the second area including all information needed for playback of the entire disc and having at least one sector ID which duplicates that of a sector in the first set of sectors.

A system for modulating digital binary data to be recorded on a recording medium comprises the generation of channel bits of the digital binary data to be recorded according to a standard for the recording medium with the exception that a maximum run length larger than that defined in the standard is obtained and/or the merging decision is influenced on basis of a random noise in a predetermined pattern or in at least one predetermined position on said recording medium and/or by recording at least one part comprising at least one predetermined repetitive bit pattern which normally, i.e. according to the standard for the recording medium, encodes into channel bits having a spectral distribution that shows at least one range of frequencies with a characteristic amplitude distribution.
