A positioning device for positioning a load is provided. The positioning device includes a motor, a measuring device, and an evaluation device. The measuring device is associated with the motor, and is operable to ascertain measurement data that characterizes the motor current consumption by the motor in the positioning of the load. The evaluation device evaluates the measurement data that have been ascertained by the measuring device, so that in that way the loading of the positioning device by the load can be ascertained.

A particle therapy system for irradiating a volume of a patient to be irradiated with high-energy particles is provided. The system includes a radiation outlet of a radiation delivery and acceleration system from which a particle beam exits in order to interact with the patient positioned in an irradiation position; an imaging device for verifying the position of the volume to be irradiated in relation to the particle beam; and a patient-positioning device with which the patient can be brought into the irradiation position for irradiation. The invention relates to a radiotherapy assembly comprising a particle emitter () with an exit window () for a fixed particle stream () and a patient support device () comprising a patient couch (A,B), which can be brought into an irradiation position that is suitable for irradiating a patient () in front of the exit window (). An X-ray diagnostic device () determines or verifies the position of a tumour that is to be irradiated, said device () comprising an X-ray source () and a detector (), which can be displaced in the area around the patient couch (A,B) that has been placed in the irradiation position. The assembly permits the location of a tumour to be verified in the irradiation position, thus rendering a relocation of the patient unnecessary.

An apparatus system has a connection unit and a number of apparatuses which can be connected to the connection unit and can be operated as intended independently of one another and independently of the connection unit. Each apparatus has a system lead including a number of connecting cables connected to a system connector and the connection unit having plug devices for the system connectors for the purpose of connecting the apparatuses to the connection unit. All the electrical connecting cables required to operate an apparatus in each case are combined in the system lead of the apparatus.

A medical system has an X-ray apparatus with an X-ray system having an X-ray source and an X-ray receiver, and a therapy unit with a source of focused acoustic waves, the therapy unit being detachably coupleable to the X-ray apparatus. A method for coupling the therapy unit to the X-ray apparatus is also disclosed. The coupling is performed so that after the therapy unit has been coupled to the X-ray apparatus the focus of the acoustic wave source is situated at least approximately in the beam path of the central beam of an X-ray bundle proceeding from the X-ray source to the X-ray receiver, and the X-ray system can be adjusted relative to the source.

A therapy apparatus has a source of acoustic waves which generates acoustic waves focused onto a focus and an x-ray locating means with which the subject to be treated can be irradiated from different directions, the central ray of the locating beam assuming a first direction for a first irradiation direction and comprises a second direction for a second irradiation direction. The apparatus has a positioning system with which the subject to be treated and the focus can be adjusted relative to one another. The region to be treated and the focus are adjustable relative to one another by synchronous actuation of the positioning system in two adjustment directions for at least one irradiation direction, this adjustment taking place in a direction that proceeds parallel to the direction of the central ray that belongs to the other irradiation direction.

The apparatus component is adjustable in common with the source of acoustic waves so that the distance between the source of acoustic waves and the apparatus component does not change as a consequence of the adjustment.

A therapy station for treatment of a patient with focused acoustic waves has a source of focused acoustic waves attached to a source carrier, an x-ray carrier carrying an x-ray locating system, and a support table for the patient. The x-ray carrier is pivotably attached to the source carrier so as to be pivotable relative to the source of acoustic waves and such that the central ray of the x-ray locating system always proceeds through the focus of the focused acoustic waves, and the source carrier is adjustable relative to the support table in a plane.
