Disclosed is a cardio-pulmonary health monitoring apparatus. The apparatus comprises a contactless motion sensor configured to generate one or more movement signals representing bodily movement of a patient during a monitoring session; a processor; and a memory storing program instructions configured to cause the processor to carry out a method of processing the one or more movement signals. The method comprises extracting one or more sleep disordered breathing features from the one or more movement signals, and predicting whether a clinical event is likely to occur during a predetermined prediction horizon based on the one or more sleep disordered breathing features.

Method and apparatus for monitoring cardio-pulmonary health

A method for controlling operation of a CPAP apparatus. The apparatus has a blower, a patient interface, an air delivery conduit for delivering air from the blower to the patient interface, a sensor for determining the pressure in the patient interface, and a control mechanism that causes air to be delivered at a desired pressure to the patient interface and that detects transitions between inhalation and exhalation of a respiratory cycle of a patient in order to synchronise the blower output with the patient's efforts. In one form the CPAP apparatus provides pressure in accordance with a bi-level waveform with at least one characterising parameter of the waveform being automatically adjusted in accordance with indications of sleep disordered breathing. The indications of sleep disordered breathing can be one or more of snoring, apnea, hypopnea, and flow limitation.

Mechanical ventilation in the presence of sleep disordered breathing

An apparatus, such as a pressure support ventilator or respiratory monitor, provides operations for a patient, such a patient with heart failure, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease or other respiratory insufficiency. In some embodiments, the apparatus may detect a respiratory condition, such as a decompensation event and/or exacerbation event, from respiratory parameters. A clinical alert message may be transmitted or displayed for a physician based on the results of query presented to the patient in response to an analysis of the one or more respiratory parameters. In some embodiments, the apparatus generates a potential relapse indicator that may provide a prediction of a risk of an oncoming clinical event such as for evaluating whether to release the patient from a hospital.

Methods and apparatus for monitoring and treating respiratory insufficiency

Devices and systems provide methods of detecting a severity change in respiratory insufficiency (RI) or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) condition of a patient. In an example embodiment, a detection monitoring device determines one or more severity change indicators based on a measure of supplied pressure or other representative measure determined by the device. The supplied pressure may optionally be determined during pressure treatment that satisfies a target ventilation. The supplied pressure or representative data may be compared to one or more thresholds that are selected to represent a change in the condition of the RI or COPD patient such as an exacerbation of a prior condition. Results of the comparisons may trigger one or more warnings or messages to notify a patient or physician of a pending change to the patient's RI or COPD condition so that the patient may more immediately seek medical attention to treat the condition.

Methods and apparatus for detecting and treating respiratory insufficiency

Apparatus to permit a delivery of a flow of breathable gas to a patient's airways. In one version, a coupler extension may include a seat portion to permit use of a mask with a nasal cannula. In some versions, the coupler extension is configured to conduct the flow of gas to prongs of a nasal cannula. The seat portion can receive and seal with a cushion of a respiratory mask and may have a sealing bevel to promote sealing between the cushion of the respiratory mask and a facial contact surface of a user. In some versions, a conduit adapted to communicate a flow of gas may comprise a slit valve formed by a portion of the wall material of the conduit. In some versions, a nasal interface may include naris pillows to seal with and conduct a flow of breathable gas into a nares of a user. Each naris pillow may include a nasal projection to conduct a further flow of gas. The nasal projection may extend within the naris beyond the seal of the naris pillow.

Apparatus for supplying a breathing gas

An apparatus to generate pressure support ventilation and a method to control pressure support ventilation. The apparatus comprises: at least one sensor adapted to measure at least one respiratory parameter; a flow generator adapted for coupling with a patient respiratory interface; and a controller, coupled to the at least one sensor and the flow generator. The flow generator is configured to provide a flow of breathable gas for pressure support ventilation to the patient respiratory interface. The controller is configured to control the pressure support ventilation with the flow generator. The controller is further configured with a rest mode and an exercise mode. The rest mode comprises a first value set of control parameters for the pressure support ventilation and the exercise mode comprises a second value set of control parameters for the pressure support ventilation.

A CPAP apparatus for supplying pressurized breathable gas to a patient includes a blower device including an electric motor, an impeller driven by the motor, and a housing to receive the motor and the impeller, a housing element that defines a blower receiving chamber to receive the blower device, and a suspension device to elastically support the blower device within the chamber of the housing element. The suspension device includes at least one elastic support chamber coupled to both the blower device and the housing element.

An apparatus for treatment of a patient with both sleep-disordered breathing and diabetes includes: a blower configured to provide a supply of air at positive pressure; a patient interface; headgear to hold the patient interface in position in communication with a patient's airways; at least one hypoglycemia sensor; an alarm; and a controller, wherein the controller is programmed to receive a signal from the at least one hypoglycemia detector, analyze the signal for indications of hypoglycemia and upon detection of an indication of hypoglycemia trigger the alarm.
