Actuator for actuating a lift valve

A device for the actuation of a gas shuttle valve in an internal combustion engine that allows an optimization of both engine performance and fuel consumption by providing a variable valve lift. The lift of the gas shuttle valve can be varied by adjusting the effective axial distance of the actuators. As needed, the valve lift is increased or decreased in order to either improve engine performance or fuel consumption.

Device to actuate a gas shuttle valve in an internal combustion engine

A device for rotating a valve for producing rotations of a gas charging valve in an internal combustion engine during its opening and closing movements. The device has a basic body having a plurality of pockets oriented in a peripheral direction for receiving rolling bodies. There is also a valve shaft disposed in the basic body. In addition, there is also a plurality of rolling bodies and a plurality of tangential springs for holding the plurality of rolling bodies adjacent to the plurality of pockets on the basic body. Finally, there is a cover serving as a valve spring support and force transmitter or energy reservoir for each of the valve rotations, wherein the basic body and the cover consist of reshaped metal components. This design allows for a simple construction process resulting in lower manufacture costs.

A valve gear controls a gas exchange in an internal-combustion engine with a valve spring which holds a valve in its required position at all times and is clamped between a valve head and a valve-spring support. The valve spring support is adjustable in the direction of the valve axis. The adjustable valve-spring support includes two nested setting rings (,) which are rotatable in opposite directions.

A hollow valve for internal combustion engines, comprising a valve body having a disk, a hollow throat region and a stem component, wherein the valve body is designed in the form a deep-drawn metal part made of austenitic metal. There is a stem end piece welded to the stem component of the valve body and a cover welded to the disk. The valve body, end piece and cover enclose a hollow space extending from the stem end piece into the disk. This valve is considerably lighter in weight than traditional valves, and is capable of lowering the temperature of the valve when the hollow space is filled with a coolant.
