The invention relates to a module for processing a fluid having a body of wound layers of a sheet material, the body having inner and outer surfaces, first and second end faces and a passage extending along the winding axis of said body in fluid communication with the inner surface, the sheet material having openings forming at least three types of channels, the channels extending from the inner surface to the outer surface, a first type of channel being open at the outer surface of the body and closed at the other end, a second type of channel being open at the inner surface of the body, in fluid communication with said passage and closed at the other end, a third type of channel being closed at both ends thereof and positioned such as to receive fluid from one or more channels of the first or second type.

Module for processing a fluid and a process for manufacture of same

The present invention relates to a filter module comprising a body of wound layers of sheet material, with an inner and outer peripheral surface, a winding axis and a passage within the body, the sheet material having a plurality of openings forming at least two types of channels within the wound layers, the channels extending in a direction from the inner peripheral surface to the outer peripheral surface, a first type of channels in fluid communication with the outer periphery and closed at the end toward the inner periphery, a second type of channels in fluid communication with the inner periphery and closed at the end toward the outer periphery, the two types of channels separated by portions of sheet material, one of the types of channels being outlet channels and being covered by a filter material.

The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a depth filter sheet material, the method comprising preparing a flowable aqueous pulp composition comprising a fibrous material and a binding agent; dispensing the flowable aqueous pulp composition onto a water permeable support in a predetermined amount per unit area; at least partially draining the water content of the aqueous pulp composition through said water permeable support; drying the at least partially drained pulp composition at an elevated temperature to form a depth filter sheet raw material comprising a first and a second surface section forming an upper and a lower surface of the sheet raw material, respectively, and an intermediate section positioned in between and integrally formed with the first and the second surface sections, the intermediate section having a permeability greater than the permeability of the first and second surface sections; and removing or displacing at least portions of one of the first or second surface section of the raw material. Depth filter sheet materials obtained by the method are also disclosed.

Depth filter sheet material and method for manufacturing same

A module enabling individual adaptation by the user to the respective task in the treatment of fluids using housings and connections of existing filtration devices without any modification is described. The module comprises one or more cells stacked one on top of the other, each of these having at least one opening, the opening of the cell or the similar openings of the cells together forming at least one channel for feeding or discharging the fluid to be treated. Each cell has two flat, porous components delimiting an inner space and designed for passage of the fluid therethrough, the inner space or spaces being connected to the channel. The inner space of the cell or cells contains at least partially a treatment material for the fluid. The method for manufacturing such a module makes provision for a treatment material to be introduced with a carrier fluid into the cells through the channel provided for feeding the fluid.
