The invention relates to the use of a coating of a layer including an inorganic, glass-like matrix of an alkali silicate and/or alkaline earth silicate or a layer including an inorganic-organic hybrid matrix or of a double layer of a base layer including an inorganic, glass-like matrix of an alkali silicate and/or alkaline earth silicate or a base layer including an inorganic-organic hybrid matrix and an alkali silicate-free and alkaline earth silicate-free top layer including a matrix of an oxidated silicon compound as the anti-limescale coating on at least one metal surface or inorganic surface of an object or material. The anti-limescale coating can be used for storage or transport devices for water or media containing water. The anti-limescale coating is suitable for pipelines, sand control systems or safety valves in the conveyance of oil or gas or the storage of oil or gas.

Metallic substrates comprising a deformable glass-type coating

A coating which provides corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and, optionally, lubrication, for deposition on a threaded article is disclosed. The coating comprises a polymer matrix, such as a polyimide, which is modified with small amounts of a fluorine containing polymer modifier, as well as other compounds or additives to improve performance of the coating. Additionally, the coating can further comprise a solid lubricant or an anticorrosion compound dispersed within the polymer matrix.

Nanocomposite coatings for threaded connections

Coating systems which provide corrosion resistance and, optionally, lubrication, for threaded connections are disclosed. The compositions comprise a first coating composition comprising polymer matrices of polyimides or epoxies which are modified with small amounts of a fluorine containing polymer. Also present in the coating compositions are corrosion inhibiting agents and inorganic particles having a mean diameter of between approximately 10 nm and 10 &#x3bc;m. Solid lubricants, which may include at least one of PTFE, HDPE, Graphite, and MoS, are optionally added to provide the first coating with a low coefficient of friction. The coating systems may further comprise a second coating composition, comprising a solid lubricant dispersed within an epoxy resin and a solvent. Described is a consolidant comprising a hydrolyzate or precondensate of at least one organosilane and at least one metal compound, where the molar ratio of silicon compounds to metal compounds is in the range of from 10 000:1 to 10:1. The consolidant can be used for the hydrolysis-stable consolidation of porous or particulate materials to form moldings. The consolidant can be used for the hydrolysis-stable coating of substrates.

Consolidating agent and use thereof for the production of hydrolysis-stable molded members and coatings

A process for the preparation of hydrolytically and hydrothermally stable consolidated proppants is described, in which (A) a consolidating agent comprising (A1) a hydrolysate or precondensate of at least one functionalized organosilane, a further hydrolyzable silane and at least one metal compound, the molar ratio of silicon compounds used to metal compounds used being in the range of 10 000:1 to 10:1, and (A2) an organic crosslinking agent are mixed with a proppant and (B) the consolidating agent is cured at elevated pressure and elevated temperature.
