A method for cleaning a rotating cylinder in a printing machine, such as the rubber-blanket or impression cylinder, is disclosed. In accordance with the present invention, the printing machine includes a washing roller for engaging and cleaning the rotating cylinder. The washing roller is rotated in the same direction as the direction of rotation of the rotating cylinder during at least part of the period in which the washing surface of the washing roller engages the rotating cylinder. Preferably, the washing roller is first rotated in a direction opposite to the direction of rotation of the rotating cylinder, then reversed to rotate in the same direction as the direction of rotation of the rotating cylinder.

Method for cleaning a rotating cylinder in a printing machine

A device for cleaning the solution used for washing a printing press cylinder wherein the washing solution is conveyed in a circuit and cleaned by a distillation device to separate out ink residues followed by a gravity separator to separate the washing solution into its water and solvent constituents. Only small amounts of ink residues are produced in the distillation device and can be disposed of without difficulty as industrial waste. The cleaning procedure is also very efficient because, after being cleaned and separated, the water and solvent constituents of the washing solution can be separately and successively supplied to the cylinder to be washed.

Device for cleaning the solution used for washing a printing press

A mechanism for selectively engaging the doctor blade in a washer for the blanket cylinder of a printing press. The mechanism permits independent control of doctor blade engagement and, through the use of a plurality of adjustably mounted fluid pressure actuators spaced along the length of the doctor blade, facilitates accurate blade alignment, thus preventing non-uniform wear of the doctor blade and the washer roller.
