A seal of an elastomeric material used to mount an intake manifold in a gas-tight manner on the cylinder head of an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The seal is formed to blend together in one piece and is located in position on the side of the intake-manifold flange facing the cylinder head. The seal has sealing surfaces, which sealingly surround the periphery of the intake pipes of the intake manifold during normal operational use. The sealing surfaces are interconnected by web segments, and at least one of the web segments is designed in one area of its extent to act as a linear tolerance compensation segment, to be flexurally soft and/or capable of folding together.

Seal for the gas-tight mounting of an intake manifold on the cylinder

An intake pipe of an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The intake pipe has a dimensionally stable intake pipe body with a passthrough opening, and a positioning element arranged in the passthrough opening to change the area of flow cross section. The positioning element is constructed of a nonreturn valve opening only toward the internal combustion engine, the nonreturn valve comprising a sealing element and a sealing seat which can move relative to one another and which can be brought, as required, into engagement with one another to close off the passthrough opening.

Intake pipe for an internal combustion engine

An intake a pipe of an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The intake pipe has a dimensionally stable intake pipe body with a passthrough opening, and a positioning element arranged in the passthrough opening to change the area of flow cross section. The positioning element is constructed of a nonreturn valve opening only toward the internal combustion engine, the nonreturn valve comprising a sealing element and a sealing seat which can move relative to one another and which can be brought, as required, into engagement with one another to close off the passthrough opening.

An intake manifold for use with a combustion engine is disclosed. The intake manifold comprises a dimensionally stable induction pipe body having at least one first flow-through opening and at least one first adjusting element arranged in the first flow-through opening to vary the available cross-sectional area of the passage. This adjusting element takes the form of a throttle valve, which is rotatably supported in the induction pipe body and which is capable of being forced to engage sealingly with the boundary wall of the first flow-through opening. In the area of the throttle valve, the induction pipe body has at least one second flow-through opening, which is allocated as a by-pass so as to be adjacent to the first flow-through opening, said second flow-through opening being capable of being sealed by at least one second adjusting element, which is comprised of a one-way valve that is only able to be forced into an open position in the direction of the attached combustion engine.

Intake manifold

A method for closing a non-circular opening in a plastic intake pipe of an internal combustion engine with a cover having a shape adapted to that of the opening includes the step of introducing the cover through the opening from outside the pipe by tilting the cover relative to the opening. The cover is then tilted within the plastic intake pipe to such an extent that the cover completely covers both the opening from the inside in a form-locking manner and an edge region of the plastic intake pipe which surrounds the opening.

An intake manifold for an internal combustion engine having a cylinder head is disclosed. The intake manifold includes at least one intake pipe with an intake flange for leak-free attachment of the manifold to the cylinder head by way of a sealing element. A bypass line is provided for feeding a secondary gas into the intake opening of the internal combustion engine. The secondary gas is fed into the bypass line through a connection, preferably a hose connection. The bypass line is formed by a groove in the intake flange which is open in the direction of the cylinder head and delimited on one side by the intake flange and on the other side by a sealing element. The connection is connected to one end of the groove, and the intake opening is connected to the other end of the groove.

Intake manifold for an internal combustion engine having a cylinder head

An intake pipe assembly for an internal combustion engine is described. The intake pipe assembly includes an intake pipe and a safety valve which can be brought into an open position by the presence of a pressure on the inside of the intake pipe which exceeds a pressure of the surrounding atmosphere.

A hydraulic valve play equalization element for the valve drive of an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The equalization element comprises an inner tappet and an outer tappet arranged to move relative to one another in the axial direction. The outside tappet is formed by an essentially cup-shaped housing with a level bottom and the inside tappet and the outside tappet delimit an oil-filled storage space which is sealed towards the outside and which can change in volume. A displacement element to equalize volume changes is enclosed in the storage space. The outside tappet is formed by an essentially tube-shaped mantle of thermoplastic material, which has slide surfaces radially inside and outside. The mantle is closed off with a fluid seal, by a disk structured as an expeller, in the direction of a cam shaft that is used. The inside slide surface encloses the inside tappet, resting against its circumference, and forming a fluid seal.

Hydraulic valve play equalization element

A valve actuating mechanism in the cylinder head of a combustion engine is disclosed. The mechanism has a cup-type tappet lifter which is attached to a valve stem, a retaining mechanism affixed to the valve stem and the tappet lifter, and at least one valve spring, which is braced on one side on the cylinder head and on the other side against the valve spring retainer disk. The cup-type tappet lifter and the valve spring retainer disk are formed in one piece. Several mechanisms are disclosed for retaining the tappet lifter onto the valve stem.

Valve actuating mechanism in the cylinder head of a combustion engine

A hydraulic valve-clearance compensating element for internal combustion engines in which an internal valve stem is capable of being axially shifted relative to an external stem such that, together with the latter, it delimits an oil-filled storage chamber. The volume of the storage chamber may be altered and is sealed to the outside by a gasket. At least one compressible displacement member is included in the storage chamber to offset changes in volume. This displacement member is made of a closed-celled soft foam with a non-porous surface layer.
