In a method of recognizing and/or tracking objects which correspond to real objects in at least one sensing zone of at least one sensor for electromagnetic radiation on the basis of images of the sensing zone repeatedly sensed by means of the sensor, succeeding images are evaluated in succeeding cycles and a search is made for at least one respective object found in a cycle on the basis of a corresponding image in a correspondingly later image in a later cycle to track the object. At least one part of an earlier image and/or at least one indication with respect to an earlier state of the object or of a real object corresponding to it, which is determined using a corresponding earlier image in the current cycle, is associated with at least one part of a current image determined in the current cycle or with an object recognized in the current cycle during at least one current cycle on the basis of the results of an at least preliminary evaluation of a current image.

Method of recognizing and/or tracking objects

Angle measurement is accomplished through an angle sensor ( ) supplying two sensor signals which are phase-shifted by 90 degrees relative to each other and whose amplitudes are dependent on the temperature, determined by a temperature sensor ( ) and fed to a microprocessor ( ). The microprocessor ( ) computes amplitude values of the sensor signals expected in dependence upon the temperature value supplied by the temperature sensor ( ), compares these values with the actual amplitude values of the sensor signals, and generates an error signal when the deviation between the expected and actual amplitude values exceeds a predetermined limit value.

Arrangement for angle measurements

In a device for measuring an angle &phgr; between a magnetic field and an MR sensor ( ) which supplies at least two electrical sensor signals x and y mutually 90&deg; phase-shifted, which are supplied to an A/D converter ( ) whose output is connected to an angle calculating device ( ), the absolute sensor signal value &verbar;r&verbar; of the two sensor signals x and y is determined from the equation &verbar;r&verbar;&equals;{square root over (y &plus;x )} in a total calculation device ( ) for the purpose of an automatic and continuous offset compensation of the static and dynamic offsets, and the change in the absolute sensor signal value is determined therefrom in dependence on the calculated angle, whereupon an offset control of the sensor signals x and y is carried out in dependence on said change in absolute value.

Offset-compensated angle measuring system

Offset compensation of two orthogonal sensor signals, which are supplied by two sensors and are preferably designed for angle measurements, occurs in dependence on the geometric arrangement of three pairs of test values of the sensor signals in a system of coordinates, the center of a circle on which the three pairs of test values are situated in the system of coordinates having center coordinates &Dgr;x and &Dgr;y relative to the origin of the system of coordinates, correction means are provided which perform a sign determination of the values &Dgr;x and &Dgr;y of the center coordinates of the circle in a repetitive cycle in each measuring cycle, while in each measuring cycle at least one of the pairs of test values differs from the pair of test values used in the preceding measuring cycle, and which means generate correction signals with which the sensor signals are complemented.
