A floor-supporting configuration in motor vehicles that is optimized to prevent deformation of the foot well of the passenger cell and has a high degree of inherent stiffness in the event of a crash, particularly a head-on collision, while substantially limiting force absorption and force transfer to areas below and behind the passenger cell is provided. The desired stiffness and force transfer is essentially achieved by a special configuration of the longitudinal members, the front floor crossmember, and the sills relative to one another and by a special connection of these elements to one another.

Floor-supporting configuration in motor vehicles

An integral body and frame arrangement for an automobile has hollow supporting members which are made out of pressed sheet metal parts and are assembled by at least one joining technique to provide a torsion-proof construction. In one arrangement, at least two U frames are positioned one behind the other in a longitudinal direction of the automobile. The base parts of the U frames are in a floor region of the vehicle body and leg parts of the U frames extend from the floor region to an essentially vertical sidewall vehicle column and/or also extend up to the vehicle roof area. In addition, the U frames are joined directly to each other at least in the region of the free ends of the leg parts or are joined by a flat sidewall part which is mounted on at least one portion of the U frames.

Integral body and frame arrangement for an automobile

A front pillar arrangement for a motor vehicle body frame includes a front pillar with an outer part and an inner part and a door hinge attached to the outer part of the front pillar with one or more fastening elements along with at least one reinforcing element for mounting the door hinge on the outer part of the front pillar. A rigid connecting element extends between the outer part and the inner part of the front pillar and is attached to the reinforcing element by at least one fastening elements for the door hinge.

Front pillar arrangement for a motor vehicle body frame

A formed part having a multiple-plate structure of zonal design includes a base plate and a plurality of reinforcing plates fastened to the base plate. The multiple-plate structure is configured so that its strength is largely adapted to the load profile to be applied to the formed part and so that its cost of production is reduced. To this end, the thicknesses of the reinforcing plates vary as a function of the load structure to be applied to the formed part and the reinforcing plates engage each other in a positive locking manner so that the abutting edges are provided essentially with regularly arranged projections which are in mutual engagement.
