A method for the strip-edge-oriented shifting of the intermediate rolls (') in a six-roll rolling mill comprising respectively a pair of workrolls (&#x2032;), intermediate rolls (&#x2032;) and backup rolls (&#x2032;), whereby at least the intermediate rolls (&#x2032;) and workrolls (&#x2032;) have devices for axial shifting cooperating with them and each intermediate roll (&#x2032;) has a barrel elongated by the amount of the CVC-shifting stroke and a one sided setback (x) in the region of the strip edge. The method is characterized in that the upper intermediate roll () is shifted in the direction of the drive side AS) and the lower intermediate roll (&#x2032;) is shifted in the direction of the service side (BS)&#x2014;or conversely&#x2014;relative to the neutral shift position (S=0 mm) symmetrically to the rolling mill center (y&#x2014;y) be respectively the same amount in the direction of their (x&#x2014;x).

Strip-edge-based displacement of intermediate rolls in six-high rolling stand

A method for adjusting the roll gap in strip rolling mills including a roll stand equipped with hydraulic adjusting devices on the drive side as well as on the operator side, wherein the positions of the rolls in a roll stand are adjustable by means of the hydraulic adjusting devices. Prior to the beginning of rolling, the stand is calibrated in a reproducible state. For any changes of the stand geometry and/or the force proportions in the stand, position changes of the adjusting devices corresponding to and resulting from these changes are determined. Changes in the stand geometry and/or the force proportions adjusted or occurring during the rolling operation are regulated by utilizing the difference between the determined corresponding adjusting positions on the drive side and the operator side and by controlling the adjustment toward zero.
