A personal computer for a handicapped person includes an input panel that is subdivided into a group of fields, with one of the fields designated as a central field for the group. Each field is, in turn, subdivided into nine elements (spaces) comprised of a neutral central element surrounded by eight output elements. Each of those eight output elements has an output character representing a respective output signal. A mark (cursor) is moved across the panel by a control stick that is manipulated by a user. The cursor is always initially located at the center element of the central field. In order to move the cursor to a desired output element, the user: (a) identifies the field in which the desired output character is located, (b) moves the cursor in a first direction to the central element of that identified field, and (c) moves the cursor by one space directly to the desired output element in a second direction oriented either orthogonally or diagonally to the first direction.

A process for the preparation of light-colored, electrically conductive pigments based on substrates having an expansion of not more than 500 .mu.m, which pigments consist of one or more metals, metal oxides or materials containing metal oxide, silicon oxide or silicate materials and contain, if desired above one or more other metal oxide and/or silicon oxide layers, an outer layer based on halogen-doped tin oxide and/or titanium oxide.

A cosmetic formulation comprising a cosmetically compatible adjuvant and particles of at least one colored pigment is improved by using as the colored pigment a synthetic platelet-shaped iron oxide pigment. The resulting pigment enables improved skin feel in cosmetic preparations.

The application relates to a pearlescent pigments based on platelet-like substrates, such as mica, which are coated with metal oxides, the metal oxide layer containing titanium and also iron, wherein the pigment has a multi-layer structure in which a first layer of TiO.sub.2 in the rutile form is followed by a layer of pseudobrookite and an iron oxide layer.
