A clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter includes pairs of ultrasonic transducers arranged on an exterior of a pipeline, and an electronic measuring/operating circuit for operating the transducers and for registering and evaluating measurement signals and for providing measured values of volume flow or flow velocity. The pairs are implemented as 1-traverse or 2-traverse pairs. One-traverse pairs are arranged on opposite sides of the pipeline, and 2-traverse pairs are arranged on a same side of the pipeline. At least three pairs are arranged on the pipeline and are distributed peripherally. Adjoining pairs of a number of pairs have an inner angle down to a minimum inner angle (MIA) between one another measured about a pipeline axis, which minimum inner angle obeys the following relationship:MIA=360°/(())with T as number of traverses and F(T,N)=0.38+0.62*T+(0.048−0.01*T{circumflex over ( )}2)*(N−2){circumflex over ( )}2.

A method for ascertaining a compensated flow and/or a compensated flow velocity, wherein the compensation of a flow related measurement error occurs in the context of a flow measurement with a two path measuring of an ultrasonic, flow measuring device, comprising: an arrangement of at least two ultrasonic transducers pairs on a tube, or pipe, wherein the ultrasonic transducers are in a 180&#xb0;, two path, one traverse, or a 90&#xb0;, two path, two traverse arrangement, by means of an evaluation unit of a flow measuring device and/or a computer, characterized by steps as follows: a) feeding information relative to the type of a flow influencing, tube, or pipe, element into the evaluation unit and/or into the computer; b) feeding information relative to distance (xa-xd) of the arrangement of the ultrasonic transducer pairs from the flow influencing, tube, or pipe, element into the evaluation unit and/or into the computer; c) compensating a measurement error by means of a correction factor kas a function of information from steps a) and b); and d) ascertaining a flow corrected by the correction factor kand/or a flow velocity corrected by the correction factor k, as well as an ultrasonic, flow measuring device and a computer program product.

Method for ascertaining a compensated flow and/or a compensated flow velocity, ultrasonic, flow measuring device and computer program product

A method for system- and/or process-monitoring in the case of an ultrasound flow measuring device having a plurality of measuring channels, wherein a medium flows though a pipeline or measuring tube in the direction of a longitudinal axis of the pipeline or measuring tube. Ultrasonic measuring signals are coupled into the pipeline or measuring tube and coupled out of the pipeline or measuring tube in such a way that they travel through the medium along different sound paths. Following passage through the pipeline or measuring tube, the ultrasonic measuring signals are detected in the individual measuring channels, wherein at least one actual quantity describing the ultrasonic measuring signal of each measuring channel is ascertained. The actual quantity is compared with a desired quantity captured under predetermined system- or process-conditions, and a report is output in the case of a difference between the ascertained, actual quantity and the captured, desired quantity.

An ultrasonic flow measuring device, which determines volume and/or mass flow of a medium in a pipeline, or in a measuring tube. The flow measuring device includes a plurality of ultrasonic sensors, which emit and/or receive ultrasonic measurement signals along defined sound paths. The control/evaluation electronics of the flow measuring device is divided into an on-site electronics, in which at least one switch is provided, via which the ultrasonic sensors, arranged in different sound paths, can be driven and/or queried, and at least one remote, control/evaluation unit, wherein the control/evaluation unit so switches the at least one switch, that the driven and/or queried, ultrasonic sensor, or the driven and/or queried pair of ultrasonic sensors, is activated and provides measured values.

Device for determining and/or monitoring the volume-and/or mass-flow of a medium

An apparatus for the positioning of a clamp-on flow measuring device on a containment, which has a medium flowing through it. The apparatus includes at least two ultrasonic transducers, which emit measuring signals into the containment and/or receive measuring signals from the containment, a positioning unit for the variable positioning of the ultrasonic transducers on the containment, a control/evaluation unit, which calculates from predetermined process and/or system variables a characteristic, desired variable of the measuring signals and which determines on the basis of a comparison of the calculated, desired variable with the corresponding, measured, actual variable, whether the ultrasonic transducers are optimally positioned or whether the position of the ultrasonic transducers need to be changed, and an indicating unit, which indicates to operating personnel a required change of position and/or the direction in which a change of position needs to be made.
