In corundum abrasive grain which is ceramically coated with ground frit, a binder and fine grain highly abrasive material for the purpose of improving adhesion of the abrasive grain in its processing to resin-bonded abrasives and their use in wet grinding. The fine grain material forms from 1 to 5 weight percent of the untreated corundum grain and ranges in size from 10 to 50 microns, which corresponds to from 1 to 10 percent of the average diameter of the initial grain.

A linear saturated crystalline polyester of an acid moiety and a moiety of a dihydric alcohol, at least 40% of the acid moiety being a terephthalic acid moiety, said polyester containing moieties of 1,4-butanediol and 1,6-hexanediol, the ratio of the 1,4-butanediol moieties to 1,6-hexanediol moieties being 10:90 to 90:10; the use of such polyesters as a fusion coating mass, particularly in securing textile substances to a substrate.

Partially crystalline copolyesters useful as adhesives

An improvement in a process for coating a substrate by a powder coating process wherein a polyester powder is applied to said substrate which improvement comprises using as the polyester powder a partially crystalline powder of a polyester condensation product of an acid component comprising an acid or ester of at least terephthalic acid and a diol component at least 50 molar percent of which is 1,4-butanediol; a polyester coating powder which is a partially crystalline polyester of an acid component at least part of which is an acid or ester of terephthalic acid and a diol component at least 50 molar percent of which is 1,4-butanediol, said powder having a glass transition temperature between -20.degree. and +50.degree. C., measured as the attenuation maximum in accordance with Deutsche Industrie Norm 53,445 a reduced n.sub.red viscosity of at least 0.6, measured in a 1 weight percent solution of a mixture of 60 parts by weight phenol and 40 parts by weight phenol and 40 parts by weight 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane at 25.degree. C. and a melting maximum, determined by differential thermoanalysis, of about 150.degree. to 200.degree. C.

Coating powders on the basis of thermoplastic polyesters

An apparatus for the continuous manufacture of phenolic resin foam in an endless sheet which includes mixing means for expandable liquid phenolic resin with a blowing agent and an acid-containing curing agent, optionally with the addition of additives, and means for processing the mixture in a temperature-controllable double belt press. The apparatus also comprises a device for cooling the phenolic resin to a temperature of from about 8.degree. to about 15.degree. C., a mixing section for admixing a blowing agent under a high pressure with said resin to form a resin premix, for mixing said resin premix with a curing agent resin to form a resin premix, and mixing said resin premix with a curing agent and other foam additives to form a curable reaction mixture, an applicator device for continuously applying said mixture uniformily onto a moving substrate, a unit for covering the mixture on said substrate with a continuous protective layer, a conveyor belt for passing the covered mixture into the double belt press, means for heating the belt press to promote foaming of the mixture under pressure until a desired sheet thickness has been obtained and a device for measuring the foam pressure within said belt press so that the foaming pressure and also the sheet thickness can be regulated.
