A method and a device are provided for adjusting a vehicle reclining seat which can be moved together into a resting position, the backrest of a front passenger seat being able to be folded downward to the rear and forming a resting surface together with a backseat. Provision is made for the front passenger seat and the rear seat to be movable automatically into a resting position and back into the seating position.

In a body pillar for a motor vehicle, which is put together from a plurality of profiled shells to form a hollow pillar which includes a wall pillar section and a roof pillar section angled with respect thereto, a reinforcing tube being fastened within the hollow pillar, the tube extending in the longitudinal direction of the roof pillar section into the wall pillar section. The reinforcing tube is supported in the transition region between the roof pillar and wall pillar section by an end of a strut which extends in the vertical direction of the wall pillar section and encloses a supporting angle with the reinforcing tube.

Body pillar for a motor vehicle

In known motor vehicle body structures, jamming of side doors, which hinders attempts to rescue of vehicle occupants, may occur after a vehicle impact. According to the present invention, the outer shell of the movable vehicle body part is designed to be resistant to deformation and the pertaining inner shell is designed to be deformable at least in sections. In at least one flanking vehicle body section, in a correspondingly inverse manner, the outer shell is constructed so as to be deformable at least in sections, and the inner shell is constructed to be deformation resistant. This body structure is suitable for use, for example, in passenger cars.
