A method for encapsulating the electronic component and a method for producing electronic components according to the method include coating the component with a coating material. The coating material is hardened and an assembly including the component and the coating is encapsulated in plastic. In particular, the coating can be accomplished by immersion. The electronic component includes the coating encapsulation of a coating material applied in a flowable condition and hardened and a plastic encapsulation encapsulating the coating.

Method for encapsulating a plurality of electronic components

A sensor device has a sensor element, two connecting elements configured as a wire and are led out of the sensor element, and a supporting element having a supporting body and two supporting feet to support the temperature sensor in a housing. The two connecting elements, the sensor element and the supporting body bound between themselves a two-dimensional clearance of a predefined width and height. A minimum dimension of the sensor element and the length and height of the supporting feet are dimensioned, relative to the clearance, such that neither the sensor element nor one of the supporting feet can enter the clearance of an adjacent sensor device.

A capacitance of a firing capacitor for the firing of a firing pellet, where the firing capacitor is contained in an occupant protection system of a motor vehicle, is implemented on a rising edge of a capacitor voltage in a charging phase. For this purpose, a quantity of charge taken up by the storage capacitor during a test time interval is determined by measurement of a charge current or of a corresponding value and integration over the test time interval. The capacitance is obtained through a quotient of the resultant integral and a voltage change in the capacitor voltage that occurred in the test time interval. The functional availability of the firing capacitor is not adversely affected at any time during the testing.

Method and apparatus for checking the capacitance of a storage capacitor provided in an occupant protection system

One or more contact elements for transmitting calibration data during the calibration of a sensor of the sensor device are electrically connected to a signal processing unit of the sensor. The contact element has a contact region in a groove of a housing part of the sensor device. A sealing compound, which seals the contact region, is introduced into the groove and a cover is brought into contact with the sealing compound in the groove. The groove, the sealing compound, and the cover are configured and they interact in such a way that the chamber communicates only with a working medium which is to be sensed by the sensor.
