A rotor unit for a centrifugal separator, which centrifugal separator comprises a non-rotatable housing wherein the rotor unit is disposed about a central axis of rotation, an inlet for supply of a mixture of components to be separated, at least one outlet for a component separated during operation, whereby the rotor unit, at least parts of which are made of metal, comprises a separating chamber formed inside the rotor unit, an inlet chamber connected to the inlet and the separating chamber, is formed radially within said separating chamber and is usually shielded from the separating chamber, at least one outlet connected to the separating chamber, a plurality of separating discs disposed at a distance axially from one another in said separating chamber coaxially with the axis of rotation, at least a number of the metal parts of said rotor unit are undetachably joined together to form a composite assembly.

Rotor unit for a centrifugal separator having undetachably joined separating discs

In a centrifugal separator having a stationary part, a non-rotating part, is elastically connected to the stationary part, and a rotating part, rotates around an axis of rotation and includes a centrifuge rotor and a rotating bearing-receiving element. The centrifuge rotor includes a disk package with a plurality of separating disks. The rotating part is journalled in the non-rotating part so that the rotating part and the non-rotating part are commonly pivotable relative to the stationary part. A drive arrangement drives the rotating part about the axis of rotation within a range of revolutions. An inlet channel extends into the inner separation space for feeding of a medium to be separated. An outlet channel extends out from the inner separation space for discharge of a separated product. The bearing-receiving element is tubular. At least one of the inlet channel and the outlet channel extends through the bearing-receiving element.

Centrifugal separator having an elastic connection

A cooling device for cooling of a seal fixed in a non-rotatable member and with a circumferential contact surface on a rotating member. A closed ring-formed chamber is arranged in the rotating member radially inside of the seal. The chamber contains an amount of cooling medium which at normal rotating operation is both liquid and gaseous, such that the liquid cooling medium which by centrifugal forces is pressed towards the outer wall of the chamber is evaporated from the heat generated by the seal, and where a cooling member is arranged on the rotating member to cool an area radially inside of the chamber, such that the gaseous cooling medium is condensed from the cooling effect of the cooling member. The invention also relates to a centrifugal separator comprising such a cooling device.

Cooling device for spindle sealing and/or bearing means

A centrifugal separator comprises a frame, a bearing device and a rotor having a first end and a second end. The rotor is connected to the frame via the bearing device. The rotor comprises a hollow spindle defining a central inner space. The spindle has a first portion adjoining the first end, an intermediate portion and a second portion adjoining the second end. The rotor also comprises a support element provided around the spindle, a separation space and separation discs are provided in the separation space around the first portion and against the support element. A rotor casing delimits the separation space. The support element is provided around the intermediate portion. The bearing device is connected to and provided around the second portion.

Centrifugal separator having a support element and bearing around portions of a spindle

In a centrifugal separator having a stationary part, a non-rotating part, is elastically connected to the stationary part, and a rotating part, rotates around an axis of rotation and comprises a centrifuge rotor and a rotating bearing-receiving element. The centrifuge rotor comprises a disk package with a plurality of separating disks. The rotating part is journalled in the non-rotating part so that the rotating part and the non-rotating part are commonly pivotable relative to the stationary part. A drive arrangement drives the rotating part about the axis of rotation within a range of revolutions. An inlet channel extends into the inner separation space for feeding of a medium to be separated. An outlet channel extends out from the inner separation space for discharge of a separated product. The bearing-receiving element is tubular. At least one of the inlet channel and the outlet channel extends through the bearing-receiving element.

A seal assembly for providing a seal between a pair of relatively rotatable components has; a first seal ring () mounted in sealing relationships, non-rotatably and for limited axial movement on a first of the components; a second seal () ring mounted in axially aligned relationship to the first seal ring, said second seal ring being mounted in sealing relationship, non-rotatably and for limited axial movement on a second of the components; first resilient means associated with the second seal ring urging it axially towards the first seal ring, second resilient means () acting on the first seal ring urging it away from the second seal ring to separate the first and second seal rings; and a centrifugal actuator () associated with the first seal ring, said centrifugal actuator comprising a radially extending chamber () between the first seal ring and the component associated therewith, said chamber being connected to a source of fluid, whereby when the components rotate relative to one another with fluid in the chamber, centrifugal pressurization of the fluid in the chamber will apply an axial load to the first seal ring urging it axially against the second resilient means and a sealing face of the first seal ring into sealing engagement with a sealing face of the second seal ring.

Seal assemblies

A separating disk for a disk package of a centrifuge rotor of a centrifugal separator has a tapering shape and extends around an axis of rotation and along a tapering rotary symmetric surface along the axis of rotation. There is an interspace between the separating disk and an adjacent separating disk. The separating disc has first protrusions extending outwardly from the tapering rotary symmetric surface and second protrusions extending inwardly from the tapering rotary symmetric surface. Each of the first and second protrusion are after each other in a peripheral direction and define a contact zone adapted to abut an adjacent separating disk in the disk package. The contact zones of the first protrusions are displaced in relation to the contact zones of the second protrusions seen in a normal direction with regard to the outer surface. Each contact zone has a continuously convex cross sectional shape.

Centrifugal separator separating disc interspace configurations

In a compressible unit a plurality of separating discs are provided and adapted to being capable, in a compressed state, of being mounted in and removed from a centrifugal separator rotor, which rotor during operation is rotatable about an axis of rotation. The unit includes a support, a pressure surface, between which the separating discs are disposed abutting against one another. Guide surfaces abut against the separating discs and control radial and polar position. At least one compression mechanism is adapted during compression of the unit to press the support and pressure surface towards one another so that the discs are compressed. During compression, the guide surfaces allow relative movement between the support and pressure surface and the separating discs, and are of at least sufficient extent in the compression direction for the position-controlling abutment between the guide surfaces and the separating discs to be maintained throughout the relative movement during the compression.

Compressible disc unit for a centrifugal separator

A bearing device in which an inner ring is sealed from an outer ring by seals and together with the outer ring forms a closed bearing unit with a built-in circulation circuit for a lubricating oil mist. Rolling elements and rolling tracks disposed in the circulation circuit and lubricated by the oil mist. Means are adapted to forming an oil mist of lubricating oil from a reservoir, and means are adapted to causing the oil mist to flow in the circulation circuit. The invention also relates to an application of the bearing device for rotatably supporting a rotor in a centrifugal separator and to a method for supporting a centrifugal separator rotor for rotation about an axis of rotation.

Bearing device

In a centrifugal separator comprising a first and second separator part having a centrifuge rotor and rotates during operation relative to the first separator part. A space connecting the first and second separator parts houses a rotating liquid body during operation. A mechanical sealing device is provided at the space and includes a first sealing element on the first separator part having a first contact surface, and a second sealing element on the second separator part having a second contact surface. The liquid body on the first sealing element or the second sealing element and displaces the same axially so that the first and second contact surfaces are pressed against each other. A pre-tensioning element exerts force on the sealing element which acts to displace the first contact away from the second contact surfaces so that a gap is formed, forming a throttling.

Centrifugal separator with sealing device

Drive unit for centrifuge rotor of a centrifugal separator

A centrifugal separator has a centrifuge rotor (,), which is rotatable about a vertical axis (x) of rotation and has at least one outlet (,) around the periphery for intermittently discharging a separated product. The separator has a casing (,), which encloses the rotor, and a space (,), delimited by the rotor (,) and an inner surface of a wall forming a part of the casing. The space (,) is arranged to receive the product from the outlet and has an outlet passage (,) for conveying the product from the space. The inner surface has a first surface portion (,), located at the level of the outlet and extending inwardly from a second surface portion (,) of the inner surface. Centrifugal separator casing with reduced separated product discharge velocity

A flexible metal support device for a rotatable centrifuge rotor (2) provided in a frame member (1) by a bearing member (4). The support device comprises a support element (7) provided between the bearing member (4) and the frame member (1), and arranged to absorb relative movements between the centrifuge rotor and the frame member. The support element (7) comprises an inner mounting portion, essentially immovable in relation to the bearing member (4), and an outer mounting portion, essentially immovable in relation to the frame member (1). Moreover, the support element (7) comprises three flexible connecting portions which each extends between the inner and outer mounting portions and is arranged to absorb radial and axial relative movements between the centrifuge rotor and the frame member. Furthermore, the inner portion, the connecting portions and the outer portion form an integrated unit manufactured in one piece of metal material.
