Boat propeller drive unit, comprising a frame-like carrier (1) intended to be fixedly joined to a boat transom, and a propeller rig (4) which is suspended in a fork (13) for trim and tilting movement relative to the fork about a horizontal axis (a). The fork in turn is mounted in the carrier for pivoting about a vertical steering axis (b). A pair of hydraulically operated piston cylinder devices (18,20) are pivotally joined at opposite ends to the rig (4) and to the legs (12) of the fork.

A shock absorber for absorbing external momentary steering forces acting on a steerable stern drive for boats. The shock absorber (11) is a hydraulic piston-cylinder device which is articulated between the anti-cavitation plate (9) of the drive (3) and a fixed portion (4) of the boat.

A boat propeller drive unit of the inboard-outboard type, having a portion securely mounted in an opening in a boat transom and adapted to be drivingly connected to a motor inboard of the transom, and having a propeller leg disposed outboard of the transom. This leg is adjustable to various angles in relation to the transom by tilting about a horizontal axis and is pivotable about an upright steering support. The drive unit comprises an inductive sensor connected to a wire passing through a central bore of the steering shaft, and a magnetic core fixedly attached to the propeller leg. The magnetic core has magnetic areas separated by non-magnetic areas, and when the magnetic core is moved under the sensor, the sensor functions as a pulse counter to count a pulse of each magnetic area is moved under it. The sensor thus provides an output signal depending on the tilting angle relative to the transom, which signal indicates that angle.

An indicator instrument for boats with outboard drive units which can be adjusted to various angles in relation to the transom and which has an indicator, preferably an LCD which shows the angle of the drive unit within the entire adjustment range, and an indicator, preferably an LED stack, which provides a rough indication of the drive unit setting within the trim angle range.

Trim indicator for boats with outboard propeller drive units

A boat propeller drive unit, a so-called inboard-outboard drive unit, has a sensor which senses the trim/tilting angle of the drive unit and is designed to be connected to an electrical indicator instrument on the boat instrument panel. The sensor is a potentiometer mounted in a recess in the drive unit steering shaft. A shaft mounted in a bore in the steering shaft engages the potentiometer and is joined at its lower end to a gear, which engages a toothed segment on the helmet of the drive unit. When the drive unit is tilted, the gear is rotated by the toothed segment, and the output signal of the potentiometer varies.

A process and a portable apparatus for performance testing of boat motors, especially with outboard drives. A brake disc is rotatably journalled in a hub of a supporting element which carries brake callipers and a lever arm, at the outer end of which a force-measuring instrument is arranged and is tensioned between the lever arm and a resistance in the form of an arm which can be clamped onto the cavitation plate of the drive. During performance testing of a boat motor, the propeller is removed and in its place the brake disc is non-rotatably mounted on the propeller shaft. The force-measuring instrument is connected to a display which gives directly the braked torque.

Method and apparatus for measuring the torque or power of a boat motor

A change-over device for connecting a selected one of two incoming Bowden cables with an outgoing Bowden cable to transmit operating movement has three parallel swing arms individually rotatable about a common axis. The incoming cables are connected with the outer arms and the outgoing cable is connected with the center arm. The center arm is provided with an axially extending coupling pin which can be made to engage, by axial movement of the center arm, a corresponding hole in the arm associated with the selected cable, thereby coupling these two arms for unison movement.
