A method for manufacturing a laminated strip having a gas barrier material laminated in a liquid-tight manner between two external films includes the steps of forming surface irregularities in a first film, laminating a web gas barrier material to the first film, transversely cutting the gas barrier material and applying a second film over the gas barrier material. The apparatus for manufacturing the laminated strip includes a pair of cooperating rolls between which the first film is fed for forming irregularities in the first film. Two other cooperating rolls are provided for cutting the gas barrier member after it has been laminated to the first film. Two additional cooperating rolls are also provided for laminating the second film to the gas barrier material and the first film.

Method for the manufacture of a laminated material strip

An opening arrangement for packing containers comprising a prepunched opening which is covered by a tear-off cover strip and a pouring rim element positioned between a wall of the packing container and the cover strip. In one of the embodiments, the pouring rim strip has an edge portion which projected partially over the opening of the packing container and a liquid-tight layer is joined to both an inside surface of the packing container wall and the edge portion of the pouring rim strip, as well as to a portion of the cover strip positioned over the opening. The application of the pouring rim as well as the manufacture of the opening arrangement as a whole are facilitated by joining in advance the pouring rim in a detachable manner to the cover strip, so the cover strip and the pouring rim can be applied as a unit.

Opening arrangement on packing containers

A packing container is provided with an opening arrangement which comprises a hole (9) included in the container wall (7) and weakened areas designed and located so that the wall section between the weakened areas forms a tongue (10) projecting into the hole (9). The hole is closed by a cover strip (11) fitted over the hole and sealed to the container wall.

Packing container provided with a reclosable opening arrangement

The invention relates to a package of the type having a container body with four side walls, opposite each other in pairs, and a top end wall which along a lateral edge is joined to the container body through a triangular, double-walled lug. The package, moreover, possesses a sealing fin which extends from the point of the said triangular lug and out over the top end wall. This sealing fin is folded down along at least a portion of its length against the top end wall and is retained in its folded down position. The said sealing fin has one or more cuts or perforations weakening the packing material. The cuts are arranged preferably at right angles to the sealing fin in the material layer of the sealing fin which is nearest to the top end wall in the folded down position of the sealing fin.

Package

Parallelepipedic packing containers of the type used as non-returnable packages for milk, etc., are manufactured by the transverse sealing of a packing material tube filled with contents. On sealing and subsequent forming of the packages, on the one hand, sealing fins extending over the end walls of the packing container, on the other hand, triangular corner lugs located on the short sides of the end walls are obtained. The sealing fins as well as the corner lugs are folded down during the forming so as to lie against adjoining container walls. When the packing container is to be opened, one end of the one of the sealing fins is folded up from its folded-down position, whereupon the packing container can be opened in that the packing container material is torn up along a tearing indication running along the fin. The folding up of the fin as well as the subsequent tearing up are facilitated in accordance with the invention in that one of the fins is given a greater width at the end where the tearing indication is situated. At the same time the opposite end of the fin is made narrower so as to facilitate the folding down of the triangular corner lug located underneath the fin end. This special shape of the fin is achieved without any appreciable increase in cost or loss in material in that the cutting off of the material tube is carried out somewhat obliquely in relation to the transverse sealing zone.

Parallelepipedic packing container

An opening arrangement for packing containers made from laminated layers of plastic and paper in which a rectangular part of the top wall and an adjacent side wall is completely removable. A rectangular cover strip is sealed along its border portions to the inside of the top wall and adjacent side wall outside of the border portions of the removable rectangular part, and is also sealed to the removable rectangular part within its border portions at two spaced apart areas, which, when removed with the rectangular part, establish a pour opening having one edge coincident with an edge line formed between the top and side walls, and a vent opening. The cover strip is also provided with a folded portion projecting outwardly from this edge which forms a ledge over which the liquid goods within the container can flow so as to form a uniform and well defined jet.
