A method for accommodation of latency variation in a communication network is disclosed. The method comprises identifying that a service is currently associated with a user device associated with the communication network, wherein a deviation between a latency requirement of the service and an internal latency performance of the communication network is bounded, predicting an upcoming reduction of communication network throughput for the user device, and providing a rate adaptor associated with the service with a feedback indication in response to predicting the reduction of communication network throughput, wherein the feedback indication is for rate reduction of the service. In some embodiments, the prediction and provision are performed only for user devices associated with services with bounded deviation between the latency requirement of the service and the internal latency performance of the communication network.

Accommodation of latency variations of a communication network

A method for latency control in a communication network is disclosed. The method includes identifying that a service is currently associated with a user device associated with the communication network, wherein a deviation between a latency requirement of the service and an internal latency performance of the communication network is bounded, and dynamically adjusting a configuration of the communication network for the service. In some embodiments, the dynamic adjustment is performed only for user devices associated with services with bounded deviation between the latency requirement of the service and the internal latency performance of the communication network. In some embodiments, dynamically adjusting the configuration of the communication network comprises controlling the communication network to provide latencies below a maximum latency threshold for the service. In some embodiments, the dynamic adjustment of the configuration of the communication network is based on the current traffic load.

Latency control for a communication network

The present disclosure relates to methods, arrangements and computer program products for remote subscriber identification module (SIM) provisioning. When performed in a telematics control arrangement, the SIM provisioning method comprises establishing a wireless connection with one or more SIM profile management arrangement and obtaining a plurality of SIM profiles from at least one of the one or more SIM profile management arrangements based on location information for the telematics control arrangement and/or on capabilities of wireless communication resources accessible to the telematics control arrangement. Each SIM profile comprises personalized SIM information for communication in at least one wireless communication network of a respective service provider.

Sim provisioning

A searcher uses an input signal, and for example, a matched filter to generate a first set of candidate paths. A selector uses the input signal and the first set of candidate paths to generate a second set of paths. The second set of paths is used to configure the fingers of a RAKE receiver. According to one aspect of the invention, the first set of candidate paths contains M paths, and the second stage uses M correlators to generate a set of M correlation values. The second stage uses the M correlation values to select N paths that are used to configure the N fingers of the RAKE receiver. According to another aspect of the invention, the first set of candidate paths contains M paths, and the second stage uses a multiple of M correlators to track the M paths and generate a set of M estimates. The second stage uses the M estimates to select N paths that are used to configure the N fingers of the RAKE receiver. According to another aspect of the invention, the selector can generate new sets of N paths while the searcher is either active or inactive. The receiver can use a quality signal or a counter to notify the searcher and/or the selector to generate new sets of paths. The selector decreases the need to continuously run the matched filter. The receiver can re-configure the fingers without having to search for new paths. The receiver can also find paths that are uncorrelated and less susceptible to fading.

A method and system enables matched filters of a CDMA system to be simplified using a two stage search. A course stage and a fine stage jointly produce the location(s) of received signal path-rays. In a first stage, an oversampled digital signal is decimated, and the decimated signal is applied to a matched filter to eventually produce an approximate location. In a second stage, the oversampled signal is shifted based on the determined approximate location and then correlated to a generated code, and a more-exact location is selected from the outputs of the correlations. Alternatively, a shifted version of the generated code is correlated to the oversampled signal, and the more-exact location is selected from the outputs of those correlations.

Searching for signals in a communications system

A mobile station with a receiver having antenna diversity where the diversity processing is controlled from the base band processing circuit and only turned on when the performance gain justifies extra power consumption. The base band processing circuit may be instructed by the network that it can cease diversity reception after evaluating cell leads within a system.

A method and apparatus is described for providing a camera accessory to a wireless mobile terminal in a wireless radiocommunication system. The wireless mobile terminal has an image data interface and a physical interface for detachably coupling the camera accessory thereto. One or more frames of image data is captured in the camera accessory and compressed according to one or more compression formats. The captured and compressed frames are transferred to the wireless mobile terminal over the image data interface. The camera accessory does not include a display. Image data is captured in a predetermined format including a CIF format. Still image frames are compressed using a JPEG format and an image stream is compressed using an MPEG format. The captured and compressed frames are transferred to the wireless mobile terminal over the image data interface using respective predetermined formats including RGB CIF, YUV CIF, JPEG, MPEG, and MPEG-4 with CIF to QCIF conversion format. The image data interface includes a wired interface and wherein the camera accessory derives a power supply from the wireless mobile terminal or includes a wireless interface.

Method and apparatus for providing a camera accessory with compression

A receiver having a digital automatic gain control (AGC) circuit is disclosed for use in a cellular communication system, including a Hierarchical Cellular System. The receiver includes a controller which switches between gain control values depending on system operational mode. In this way, the AGC can be optimized for different types of receive processing operations, e.g., traffic reception and measurement of other channels.

Method and apparatus for changing the channel bandwidth that is receivable in a radio receiver

The present invention provides a system and method for reducing the power consumed by a RAKE receiver. In exemplary embodiments of the present invention, an environment variation estimator is implemented in a CDMA mobile station. The environment variation estimator is connected to the searcher of the RAKE receiver and provides an estimate of the rate at which the mobile station's environment is changing. By providing an estimate of the rate of change of the mobile station's environment, the duty cycle of the searcher can be optimized, thereby reducing the overall power consumed by the receiver. By also providing the estimate to the RAKE fingers, channel tracking can be improved.

Motion estimator for a CDMA mobile station

A circuit is disclosed for sampling analog signals at a rate which is a rational, non-integer fraction of a clock frequency. The analog signal is sampled at non-equidistant sampling points, with the distances between successive points forming a jitter sequence. The jitter sequence is pre-calculated and stored in a memory within the circuit, reducing processing requirements in use.

The present invention relates to a receiver device comprising a receiver (104) adapted to receive radio signals in two frequency bands (FB1, FB2). The radio signals in one of the frequency bands (FB1) constitute communication signals for a radio system (AMPS, NMT) having a certain channel spacing, whereas the radio signals of the second frequency band (FB2) constitutes communication signals for a second radio system (PCS1900, DCS1800, GSM) having a second certain channel spacing. The output (112) is connected to a baseband unit which is common to the radio systems. In the baseband unit, among other things, lowpass filtering, detection and neighbouring channel suppression are performed on the received radio signal that has been mixed down to the baseband frequency range.
