A technology for a stretchable webbing is provided including a long inflatable belt for restraining a vehicle occupant, which is effective in preventing slippage between yarns and fray while ensuring webbing rigidity. One embodiment includes a stretchable webbing having a long inflatable belt for restraining a vehicle occupant and an inserting yarn of the stretchable webbing having a first filament element and a second filament element which extend adjacent to and parallel with each other, where the second filament element is composed of a low-fusing point fiber having a fusing point lower than that of the first filament element.

Stretchable webbing, inflatable belt, and inflatable belt apparatus

A technology for a stretchable webbing is provided including a long inflatable belt for restraining a vehicle occupant, which is effective in ensuring the webbing rigidity and achieving the reduced product width of the webbing. In one embodiment, the stretchable webbing includes a long inflatable belt for restraining a vehicle occupant, a weft yarn of the stretchable webbing having a first filament element and a second filament element which extend adjacent to and in parallel with one another, where the first filament element and second filament element have different heat-shrinkage ratios.

The disclosed airbelt apparatus may provide an airbelt capable of being connected to an anchor. The airbelt apparatus may comprise an anchor and an airbelt with a bag and a mesh webbing covering the bag. The anchor may have an opening, wherein only a tip end side of a portion of the airbelt is inserted into the opening. The portion of the airbelt can be the mesh webbing only or a combination of the mesh webbing and a webbing. The portion of the airbelt inserted into the opening can be folded back so as to overlap onto a base end side of the airbelt, and the tip end side of the portion of the airbelt and the base end side of the airbelt are stitched together.

Airbelt apparatus

An air belt that includes a bag-shaped mesh webbing, a bag inserted into the mesh webbing, and a tube shaped mesh cover which covers the mesh webbing. The mesh cover includes warp yarn, weft yarn, and an connected part formed by connecting the weft yarn with an entanglement-thread at a hem. The entanglement-thread of the connected part breaks due the force of the bag expanding so that the bag and the mesh webbing expand further than the cover. The thickness of the cover is uniform across its width, resulting in a uniform bending strength of the mesh cover between the left and right hems and providing comfort to the wearer.

Air belt for inflatable seat belt device

An airbelt is provided that passes smoothly through an anchor and winds around a retractor. The airbelt includes a non-inflating section and a flat hollow-cylindrical inflating section. A bag is arranged only within the inflating section. An end of the bag as well as an end of the belt is connected to a tongue. The non-inflating section is inserted into a through-anchor and is connected to a retractor so as to enable to be wound up around and pulled out of the retractor. The belt is consecutively and integrally made by knitting or weaving all the parts extending from the non-inflating section toward the inflating section. A weft thread, which is lined up with a fusion thread such as a thread having a core-sheath structure, is inserted into the non-inflating section so as to be processed with heat.

Airbelt and airbelt apparatus

An air belt which is smoothly supported by an anchor, and is directly wound by a retractor is provided. The air belt includes a belt having a sheet-shaped single layer portion, a double layer portion having the shape of a flat, hollow tube, and a middle portion which is disposed between the single layer portion and the double layer portion. A bag is contained in the double layer portion. Both the bag and the belt are connected to the tongue at the ends thereof. The single layer portion of the belt is inserted through the anchor, and is connected to the seat belt retractor in a windable and extractable manner. The belt is manufactured by continuously and integrally forming the single layer portion, the middle portion, and the double layer portion with a woven or knit fabric. A weft may be inserted through the single layer portion.
