A data processing section selects either base station mode or terminal mode and executes communication. A control section controls operations relating to the base station mode and the terminal mode. A receiving section receives an instruction to switch to the base station mode from other wireless device set in the base station mode, in the case where communication is set in the terminal mode. An AP switching section switches to the base station mode in accordance with the instruction. An instructing section instructs other wireless devices set in the terminal mode to switch to the base station mode, after a predetermined period is passed from the time when the mode is switched to the base station mode. An STA switching section switches to the terminal mode after giving the instruction.

Wireless device capable of multiple access to other wireless devices

A processing unit sets the time interval before packet signals are broadcast, using a carrier sense multiple access (CSMA) scheme. A modem unit and an RF unit broadcasts the packet signals at the time intervals set by the processing unit. The RF unit and the modem unit receive a control signal broadcast from an access control apparatus at a predetermined frequency. The processing unit sets the time interval, during which the control signal is receivable, to a time length shorter than the time interval for the remaining cases.

Broadcasting method and radio apparatus

A data processing unit selects either one of a base station mode and a terminal mode so as to perform communications using packet signals. The base station mode is a mode in which a packet signal, containing data indicating that an initial source and a final destination are not its own radio apparatus, is to be communicated; the terminal mode is a mode in which a packet signal, containing data indicating that the initial source or the final destination is its own radio apparatus, is to be communicated. A control unit starts the radio apparatus by setting the data processing unit in the terminal mode. When a packet signal, which has been transmitted from another radio apparatus and which contains broadcast information, has not been received before a certain period of time elapses after the start, the control unit switches the mode of the data processing unit to the base station mode.

Radio apparatus which communicates with other radio apparatuses and communication system

A packet communication unit and a signal processing unit communicate with a plurality of terminals, respectively, in an infrastructure mode. A control unit controls the communications performed by the packet communication unit and the signal processing unit. The control unit permits two of the plurality of terminal apparatuses to communicate with each other in an ad-hoc mode, over a predetermined period time, and specifies the ad-hoc period to at least the two terminal apparatuses via the packet communication unit and the signal processing unit.

Communication method, base station device using the same, terminal device, and communication system

A control unit assigns an IP address to a new terminal apparatus which has approved of the participation. When a server, to which an IP address is assignable, is contained in the ad-hoc network, the control unit instructs the new terminal apparatus to access the server. When the server, to which an IP address is assignable, is not contained in the ad-hoc network and when the new terminal apparatus is capable of assigning an IP address on its own, the control unit instructs the new terminal apparatus to assign an IP address. When the server, to which an IP address is assignable, is not contained in the ad-hoc network and when the new terminal apparatus is not capable of assigning an IP address on its own, the control unit assigns an IP address to the new terminal apparatus.

Communication method and terminal apparatuses using the communication method in an ad-hoc network

A control unittransmits via a processing unitthrough a wireless unita participation request to a registrar among multiple other terminal apparatuses forming an ad hoc network. The control unitreceives participation approval via the wireless unitthrough the processing unit. The wireless unitthrough the processing unitall communicate by participating in the ad hoc network when the participation approval is received. The control unitbroadcasts a search signal for searching another terminal apparatus to which a role of approving participation of a new terminal apparatus in the ad hoc network is assigned, prior to the transmission of a participation request.

A weight vector computing unit derives amounts of phase rotation for a plurality of multicarrier signals, respectively, and rotates the phase of a weight vector. A combining unit weights respectively a plurality of multicarrier signals with the phase-rotated weight vector, combines weighting results, and determines a combined result. A receiving weight vector computing unit remodulates the determined result and derives a first phase difference between the plurality of multicarrier signals and a result of the remodulation. Further, the receiving weight vector derives phase rotation amounts based on the first phase difference and the second phase difference.

Receiving method for receiving signals by a plurality of antennas, and a receiving apparatus and a radio apparatus using the same

A data rate is to be determined depending on circumstances. A control unit () transmits, at a predetermined frequency, a request signal by which to supply information on a data rate to a targeted radio apparatus compatible with a variable data rate. The control unit () receives rate information from the targeted radio apparatus. The control unit () sets a data rate used in the case of transmitting data, based on the information on a data rate contained in the rate information. The control unit () identifies the reliability level of the data rate contained in the rate information. And when the reliability level is low, the control unit () lowers the frequency at which the rate request signal is transmitted.

Radio apparatus

A correction unit corrects the phases of received multicarrier signals, respectively, carrier by carrier. A combining unit and a computing unit performs adaptive array processing on the corrected multicarrier signals on a carrier-by-carrier basis. A derivation unit derives, carrier by carrier, a phase for correction to be used by the correction unit, based on error in the multicarrier signals which have undergone the adaptive array processing. The derivation unit updates a frequency for correction about a carrier to which a known signal is assigned, based on error in the carrier, so as to derive a phase for correction and the derivation unit also derives a phase for correction, based on the error in the carrier and the phase for correction in a carrier to which the known signal is assigned.
