A process for manufacturing a fluid, including the steps of punching spout or outlet plug fitting holes in both a plate of a tubular blank of the carton and a plastic film constituting the internal bag at a predetermined place where a spout or outlet plug is attached to the tubular blank and the internal bag, the tubular blank containing the plastic film and having a closed bottom wall, fitting the spout or outlet plug in the spout or outlet plug fitting holes from inside the tubular plug, and welding the spout or outlet plug to the plastic film. An apparatus of manufacturing a fluid container, including a circulating conveyor conveying a tubular blank of the carton, the tubular blank containing a plastic film constituting the internal bag, and having a closed bottom wall, a punch cutting spout or outlet plug fitting holes in predetermined portions of a plate of the tubular blank and the plastic film which have been delivered by the circulating conveyor to a predetermined place, and a spout or outlet plug welder provided downstream of the punch and welding the spout or outlet plug which has been fitted in the spout or outlet plug fitting holes to the tubular blank and the plastic film which have been delivered by the circulating conveyor to a predetermined place.

Process and apparatus for manufacturing fluid container

A container comprising a tubular body part having a longitudinal lapped side seam and a bottom part attached to one end thereof, characterized in that the overlapping portions of the side seam are adhered by ultrasonic bonding to provide a bonded area longitudinally of the side seam of predetermined transverse width throughout the major portion of its length and a bonded area at the top of greater transverse width which is at least several millimeters in length longitudinally of the seam.

A device for forming the body and bottom of a container of the kind wherein there is an axial seam formed by adhesively-joined overlapping portions of the side and a bottom formed by an upwardly-folded lower end portion of the bottom adhesively enfolded within a downwardly-folded portion of the lower end of the side, said device comprising an ultrasonic side seaming device for welding the side seam, said side seaming device embodying an elongate, ultrasonic horn and means therein defining a planar contact surface containing a stepped-down recess commencing several millimeters from one end for engagement with the side seam and a bottom seaming device comprising an outer mold containing a mold cavity for receiving the bottom, said outer mold containing a centrally-located circular hole, a shaft, a knurling tool supported by the shaft within the mold cavity for rotation about its axis and movement circumferentially within the hole and means circumferentially of the knurling tool defining a circumferential wall and an annular groove of such radial dimensions as to have rolling tangential engagement with the enfolded portion of the body and bottom when moved circumferentially within the hole to cause the enfolded portion to become adhered.
