A slide fastener comprising a fastener tape and a continuous synthetic resin fastener element row produced by extruding means having a series of cavities and secured to one side edge of the fastener tape by means of element securing threads is disclosed. The fastener element row includes a plurality of individual fastener elements each including an engaging head and upper and lower legs extending from the engaging head. The individual fastener elements are in series connected at regular spaces by upper and lower synthetic resin spacer means integrally formed with the fastener elements adjacent to the free ends of the legs. The spacer means has a minimum cross sectional area in the central portion thereof and the diameter gradually increases from the central portion toward and being connected to the opposing walls of adjacent fastener elements. The slide fastener further comprises connecting threads passing through the upper and lower legs of the plurality of connected fastener elements adjacent and parallel to the spacer means and anchored to the legs.

Slide fastener

A slide fastener stringer comprises an elongate molded coupling element strip woven into a stringer tape along a longitudinal edge thereof. The strip includes a succession of laterally spaced coupling elements each having a pair of first and second legs, and a pair of series of first and second connecting portions extending respectively between alternate pairs of the first legs and between alternate pairs of the second legs in staggered relation with each other. A pair of connector threads is partially embedded in the first and second legs, respectively, of each coupling element and extends parallel to the first and second connecting portions, respectively, on the head side of the coupling elements. Each of the coupling elements has a pair of grooves extending transversely through a pair of first and second legs, respectively, on their outer sides, and disposed remotely from the connecting portions and from the connector threads. A pair of anchor threads is disposed in the grooves in the first legs and the grooves in the second legs, respectively, along the full length of the strips. A weft thread of the tape has a plurality of loops each encircling one of the first and second connecting portions, the connector threads, and the anchor threads between adjacent coupling elements, the weft loops being held out of contact with the connector threads.

Slide fastener stringer

A slide fastener chain comprises a pair of inter-engaged stringers including a pair of stringer tapes one longer than the other which have longitudinally staggered ends spaced from each other by a distance greater than the length of a slider which is to be mounted on the slide fastener chain. The coupling heads of a predetermined number of coupling elements on the longer stringer tape adjacent to the end of the shorter stringer tape and remote from the end of the longer stringer tape are cut off so that the coupling elements thus severed are kept uncoupled from opposite companion coupling elements on the shorter stringer tape. The slide fastener chain thus constructed can smoothly be threaded through the slider. The slide fastener chain in one form is fabricated by cutting a continuous slide fastener chain transversely fully thereacross to define a transverse edge of the chain, transversely fully across one of the stringers to form a transverse slit spaced from the transverse edge, and longitudinally across a certain number of coupling elements below the transverse slit to form a longitudinal slit cutting off the coupling heads, which are held between the opposite companion coupling elements.

Slide fastener chain and method of manufacturing the same

A slide fastener stringer having a continuous thermoplastic molded coupling element strip attached to a longitudinal edge of a tape. The strip includes a row of spaced coupling elements interconnected by a pair of series of first and second thermoplastic molded connecting portions. Each first connecting portion extends between first legs of two adjacent coupling elements and each second connecting portion extends between second legs of two adjacent coupling elements. A pair of connector threads extends parallel to the first and second connecting portions, respectively, along the full length of the strip and is embedded in the first and second legs, respectively, of each coupling element.

A slide fastener stringer comprising a woven coupling element having a plurality of first and second connecting portions interconnecting a plurality of laterally spaced scoops of the element. Each of the first connecting portions extends between adjacent two of first legs of the scoops which is disposed at one side of a tape while each of the second connecting portions extends between adjacent two of the second legs of scoops disposed at the other side of the tape, the first connecting portions being staggered relative to the second connecting portions.

Slide fastener coupling elements are continuously manufactured from a molded strip of coupling element blanks at a speed which is substantially the same as the speed at which the molded strip is produced on a die wheel. The strip of coupling element blanks, as it is withdrawn from the die wheel, is folded about its longitudinal axis into a U-shape while the strip is being heated, and then is heated by hot air before it is shaped into slide fastener coupling elements of a finalized shape as they are heat-set. Then, the coupling elements thus formed are cooled and discharged at a speed equal to the peripheral speed of the die wheel.

Method of and apparatus for continuously manufacturing slide fastener

A woven slide fastener stringer comprising a woven stringer tape and a coupling element assembly woven into the tape along its one longitudinal edge. The assembly includes a row of coupling elements spaced along and molded around a connector. Each coupling element has a pair of grooves extending transversely through a pair of first and second leg portions, respectively, on their respective outer sides. A pair of anchor threads extend through the grooves of the first leg portions and through the grooves of the second leg portions, respectively, along the full length of the coupling element row. A weft thread of the tape has a plurality of loops each encircling the connector and the anchor threads between adjacent coupling elements. Each loop of the weft thread is open widely, perpendicularly of the general plane of the tape, urging the anchor threads toward one another between adjacent coupling elements to hold the individual coupling elements firmly in position.

Woven slide fastener stringer

A continuous zigzag-shaped coupling element strip, for use in the production of slide fasteners, is produced on a rotating die wheel having an endless zigzag-shaped peripheral cavity receptive of heated thermoplastic material delivered from a fixed extrusion nozzle. The cavity has a plurality of bottlenecks or retarding means to restrict or retard the flow of the delivered thermoplastic material in the cavity so as to retain much of the thermoplastic material in central and transverse cavity portions that correspond to head and leg portions of a coupling element.
