An image forming apparatus includes a fixing unit which fixes an unfixed toner image retained onto a recording medium by at least heat while moving the recording medium; a setting unit which sets a plurality of levels of fixing condition in the fixing unit in accordance with user's desire; and a changing unit which changes at least one of temperature with which the recording medium is heated by the fixing unit and speed with which the recording medium is moved by the fixing unit, in accordance with the level of fixing condition set by the setting unit.

The partitioning wall is a portion of a separating wall of the developer housing chamber, and is provided between the developer housing chamber and the developer holding member.

Image forming apparatus mounted with replaceable unit, image forming system, and method of controlling image forming apparatus

An image forming apparatus has at least one replaceable unit replaceably mounted to an image forming apparatus main body. The image forming apparatus outputs a message purporting that a reservation of an operation mode can be received, at the timing that a replacement timing of the replaceable unit which is currently mounted is close in time. If so, prior to the replacement of the replaceable unit which is current mounted, a reservation of an operation mode for a replaceable unit which is to be mounted next time may be received. Further, if the replacement of the replaceable unit is detected, the image forming apparatus starts the control according to the reserved operation mode.

By using information stored in a storage part provided in the image forming apparatus main body or the results of detection of an image density sensor or the like, it is judged whether or not a replaceable unit such as a toner cartridge has been replaced. Furthermore, from information stored in the storage part provided in the image forming apparatus main body, it is detected whether a replaceable unit such as a toner cartridge is genuine or other than genuine units. From these detection results, information on the amount used for developer of the replaced toner cartridge, stored in the storage part, is initialized.

An image forming apparatus includes a toner supply for supplying toner to the developing unit; a toner supply control device for determining the final amount of toner supply, on the basis of the standard amount of toner supply corresponding to image coverage and a change in the amount of toner supply corresponding to the density of an image, thereby controlling the toner supply; a toner supply history storage device for storing a history concerning the amount of toner supplied; a toner consumption status determination device for determining whether or not an excessive amount of toner is consumed, on the basis of the toner supply history information; and development property stabilization device which interrupts formation of an image when the toner consumption status determination device determines that an excessive amount of toner is consumed, thereby causing the toner supply to supply toner and causing the developing unit to agitate and blend a developing agent or to temporarily agitate and blend a developing agent.
