A fluid-filled bushing with variable damping forces includes an inner tube, an outer tube, an elastomeric body joining the inner and outer tubes, a plurality of fluid chambers defined by the elastomeric body between the inner and outer tubes in circumferentially spaced relationship, a fluid passage for providing communication between the fluid chambers, a valve disposed in the inner tube for controlling fluid flow through the fluid passage, and a valve actuator for actuating the valve. The fluid passage includes a plurality of first passages defined in the inner tube and each communicating with one of the fluid chambers, and a plurality of second passages defined in the valve and communicable with the first fluid passages, respectively, the second fluid passages cooperating with the first fluid passages in varying cross-sectional areas thereof. A flange is provided on the inner tube at one axial end thereof for attachment to a vehicle frame, and a valve actuator is mounted on the flange remotely from the inner tube for actuating the valve.

Fluid-filled bushing with variable damping forces

A fluid-filled bushing comprises at least two sleeves disposed in concentric relation to each other, a resilient member interposed between the two sleeves and having a substantially annular recess defined in an outer circumferential surface thereof, a partition disposed in the annular recess and having holes defined therein and defining first and second substantially annular fluid chambers in the annular recess which selectively communicate with each other through the holes of the partition, a fluid filled in each of the first and second fluid chambers, and a valve for variably restricting the flow of the fluid between the first and second fluid chambers.

Fluid-filled bushing

A control device in a suspension having a link rod includes a pair of fluid-sealed bushings provided on the respective opposite ends of the link rod and having hydraulically adjustable compliances, a valve mechanism for varying the compliances of the fluid-sealed bushings, an actuator for actuating the valve mechanism, and a control mechanism for controlling the actuator. The control mechanism includes a first sensor for detecting the acceleration of vertical vibrations of the vehicle body and generating a signal commensurate with the detected acceleration, a bandpass filter connected to the first sensor for transmitting a signal having a frequency range in the vicinity of the natural frequency of the sprung mass of the vehicle, a second sensor for detecting the steering angle of the steering wheel and generating a signal commensurate with the detected steering angle, a third sensor for detecting when the vehicle is braked and generating a signal when the vehicle is braking, and a circuit for processing the signals from the bandpass filter, the second sensor, and the third sensor to control the actuator based on the processed signals. The control device can control the compliances of the bushings dependent on the road conditions and the conditions in which the vehicle is operated.

Control device for a suspension

A slant plate type hydraulic device is provided which comprises a frame, a cylinder rotatable mounted in the frame and a plurality of plunger means which are slidably fitted into the cylinder. The plunger means are positioned in a circular pattern around the axis of the cylinder. A holder means is provided, along with a slant plate means wherein the holder means holds the slant plate means such that the slant plate means and cylinder are rotatable with respect to one another. Also included is a plurality of shoe means, with each shoe means being universally, rotatably mounted on one of the plunger means, wherein the shoe means are in sliding contact with the slant plate means. Finally, biasing means are provided for holding the shoe means in contact with the plate means.
