A lens barrel includes an imaging optical system including a plurality of lens groups located on an optical axis; an insertable/rotatable optical element which produces a specific photographic effect when rotated on the optical axis; and a drive mechanism including a motor which moves the insertable/rotatable optical element between an inserted position, in which the insertable/rotatable optical element is positioned on the optical axis, and a removed position, in which the insertable/rotatable optical element is removed from the optical axis by forward and reverse rotations of the motor, respectively. The drive mechanism rotates the insertable/rotatable optical element on the optical axis by the forward rotation of the motor when the insertable/rotatable optical element is in the inserted position.

The digital camera being capable of recording stereoscopic first and second still images includes an imaging device that captures the first and second still images in this order, a display unit that displays a moving image captured by the imaging device to allow framing an image to be taken. The display unit superimpose a framing assisting pattern on the moving image to facilitate the framing of the image to be taken. A grid pattern may be utilized as the framing assisting pattern. After the first still image is captured, the display unit displays the first still image, with the framing assisting pattern superimposed thereon, besides the moving image after said first still image is captured.

A binocular telescope with a photographing function includes a pair of telescopic optical systems, a casing for receiving the telescopic optical systems, and the casing has outer-side end portions. A camera system includes a photographing optical system, and a solid-state image sensor arranged behind and aligned with the photographing optical system, and an electronic control system electronically controls an operation of the camera system. The electronic control system is supplied with electric power from the batteries through an electric power source circuit board. The batteries and the electric power source circuit board are provided at the outer-side end portions of the casing, such that the weight is balanced between the outer-side end portions of the casing.

A finder optical system for a single lens reflex camera is provided with a photographing optical system, a beam splitter for splitting light passed through the photographing optical system. First light deflected by the beam splitter forms a primary image at a position downstream from the beam splitter. Second light passed through the beam splitter is incident on a CCD. A relaying optical system is arranged on an optical path of the light deflected by the optical element to relay the primary image to form a secondary image. A reflection surface is arranged between the relaying optical system and an eyepiece optical system. The reflection surface deflects light, which is directed from the relaying optical system, toward the eyepiece optical system, to proceed in a direction parallel with an optical axis of the photographing optical system. The secondary image is formed between the reflection surface and the eyepiece optical system.

A camera having a control dial/display panel unit includes a ring member which can be manually rotated about a first axis; a display panel which is surrounded by the ring member so as to be viewed through an aperture of the ring member from outside the camera; a rotational member which is rotatable about a second axis which is inclined with respect to the first axis; a transmission device for transmitting the rotation of the ring member to the rotational member; a detection device which is disposed on the rotational member to detect rotation information of the rotational member; and a controller which determines rotation information of the ring member via the rotation information of the rotational member, which is detected by the detection device, to indicate information corresponding to the rotation information of the ring member on the display panel.

A camera for a roll film that is provided with a separate film strip wound around a first spool, and is provided with a second spool includes a first and second spool compartment. The roll film can be loaded into either the first or second spool compartments and the second spool can be loaded into either the second or first spool compartments, respectively. A reversible film winding mechanism winds the film strip of the roll film onto the second spool. The film winding direction can be reversed depending on which one of the first and second spool compartments the roll film is loaded into.

A camera using a roll film (Brownie film) having an identification mark, on one half of the width of the film strip, is provided with a pair of spool compartments in a camera body. The film can be loaded in one of the spool compartments. The film loaded in one spool compartment can be wound into the other spool compartment. The camera body is provided with a pair of code sensors, wherein at least one code sensor corresponds to the identification mark, regardless of the winding direction of said film.

A data-imprinting camera includes a winding mechanism for manually winding a film loaded in a camera body, a data imprinting device for imprinting patterns of data onto the film, the data imprinting device having a plurality of light emitting elements arranged such that light dots formed on the film are aligned in the direction perpendicular to the winding direction of the film, and a controlling device for controlling the emissions of the light emitting elements in synchronism with the winding of the film by the winding mechanism, the controlling device including a function to detect condition of the data imprinting and a function to repeat the data imprinting in one picture frame of the film when the detected result is faulty.

A roll-film camera for receiving a roll-film is disclosed which includes: a pair of spool compartments, each of which the roll-film can be placed in; a reversible film winding mechanism which rotates a spool placed in one of the pair of spool compartments in which the roll-film is not placed to wind a film of the roll-film onto the spool when the roll-film is placed in the other of the pair of spool compartments, wherein a film winding direction of the reversible film winding mechanism can be reversed depending on which one of the first and second spool compartments the roll film is loaded into; a photographic-data imprinting device for imprinting photographic data on the film; and a controller for controlling the photographic-data imprinting device to imprint the photographic data on the film in different arrangements depending on the winding direction of the film.

Roll-film camera

A system for controlling an aperture of a lens including an adapter for mounting the lens onto a camera body. The adapter includes a ring having an internal gear, and an aperture control bar formed on the ring. Another gear is provided which meshes with the internal gear. The aperture control bar contacts an aperture control lever of the lens, while the other gear is driven by a motor driven AF coupler of the camera body to rotate the ring. The rotation of the ring rotates the aperture control bar, which moves the aperture control lever of the lens. The size of the aperture of the lens is changed when the aperture control bar is moved.

System for controlling an aperture of a lens

A position adjusting apparatus for adjusting a position of a lens frame of a camera, which holds a focusing lens group, in an optical axis direction. This apparatus includes a lens frame supporting member which is rotatable relative to the lens frame, a guide which moves the lens frame in the optical axis direction during the rotational adjustment of the lens frame, and a friction mechanism which normally prevents the lens frame and the lens frame supporting member from rotating relative to each other due to a frictional force, and which permits the lens frame and the lens frame supporting member to rotate relative to each other against the frictional force when a predetermined adjusting force is applied thereto.

Apparatus for adjusting position of lens in camera

A stereoscopic camera is provided with a mechanism to move reflective members into and out of an optical path such that the camera may take stereoscopic photographs in one position of the moving mechanism. The camera may also take normal full-frame photographs in a second position of the moving mechanism.

A shutter control device is disclosed which includes a shutter release operating mechanism which can be attached to either a right shoulder or a left shoulder of a camera body which is formed to have a bisymmetric shape. Contacts, through which a signal for releasing the shutter is passed, are provided at both the right shoulder and the left shoulder. The shutter release operating mechanism is provided with a release button for closing the contacts to thereby release the shutter.
