A developing device includes (a) a developing member; (b) a developer container; (c) a partition member that partitions an interior of the developer container into a primary chamber and a secondary chamber; and (d) a developer-conveying unit that is disposed in the primary chamber, the developing device defining a collected-toner-receiving port through which a collected toner that is collected from a toner image carrier is received into the developer container; and a migration opening through which a developer held in the primary chamber is migratable to the secondary chamber, the developing device further including (e) a capturing unit that is disposed at the migration opening and captures a foreign material which migrates through the migration opening together with the developer; and (f) a foreign-material-removing unit that is disposed at the developer-conveying unit and moves the foreign material out of the developer container in accordance with the rotation of the developer-conveying.

Developing device and image-forming apparatus

An image forming member includes: an electrostatic latent image holding member that holds an electrostatic latent image; a developing unit that develops a toner image formed by a toner on a surface of the electrostatic latent image holding member; a toner removing member that removes a residual toner remaining on a surface of the electrostatic latent image holding member; a conveying path including a conveying member that is internally provided in the conveying path and that returns the residual toner removed from the surface of the electrostatic latent image holding member to the developing unit; and a trapping portion that traps a foreign matter conveyed by the conveying member, the electrostatic latent image holding member, the developing unit, the toner removing member, the conveying path, and the trapping portion of the image forming member being integrally and detachably attached to an image forming apparatus body.

The product (R&#xd7;W) of the surface roughness (R[&#x3bc;m]) of said electrophotographic photoreceptor after 200,000 rotations thereof and the wear rate of said electrophotographic photoreceptor per 1,000 rotations (W[nm]) is not greater than 20.

The present invention provides a cartridge life detecting system which detects and manages the life of a cartridge by mounting a memory on a print cartridge comprising at least an image formation member removably mounted on a main body of an image formation apparatus, carrying out operation to obtain information about the life of the cartridge based on contents read from the memory and criterial information of the life of the cartridge, and writing information about the life in the memory, comprises the steps of setting a value corresponding to the life of the cartridge by selecting one among combination of the number of printed sheets and the number of rotations of the image formation member, combination of the number of printed sheets and the number of pixels of image information, and combination of the number of printed sheets, the number of rotations of the image formation member and the number of pixels of image information, storing the value in the memory in advance, and making determination as to the life of the cartridge based on the value.

Cartridge life detecting system

A charge removal brush with a number of long conductive filamentous elements for removing charges from an object when the charge removal brush comes in contact with the object, is disclosed. The charge removal brush includes a metal shaft rotatable about the axis thereof, a strip-like woven cloth including a base cloth and long conductive filamentous elements uniformly planted in the substantially entire surface of the base cloth, the strip-like woven cloth being spirally wound on the metal shaft with no gap, and a conductive fiber is woven into the base cloth in a state that the conductive fiber runs along the center line of the base cloth, which is extended in the lengthwise direction of the base cloth.

Charge removal brush

A print cartridge for an image forming apparatus which is insertable into a body of the image forming apparatus, the print cartridge includes an image carrying body, a housing rotatably supporting the image carrying body, and a primary static charger for electrostatically charging the image carrying body, the primary static charger being removably mounted on the housing. The primary static charger has a grid disposed between the corotron wire and the image carrying body which is contacted by a leaf spring to bias the primary static charger toward the housing and also fix the grid on the housing.
