A bisphosphonic acid derivative of the formula (I) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof: ##STR1## wherein A is ##STR2## each of R.sup.3 and R.sup.4, which may be the same or different, is (i) a hydrogen atom, (ii) a C.sub.1-6 alkyl group, a C.sub.2-6 alkenyl group, a C.sub.2-6 alkynyl group, a C.sub.1-6 alkyl-carbonyl group, a C.sub.2-6 alkenyl-carbonyl group, a C.sub.2-6 alkynyl-carbonyl group R.sup.5 and R.sup.6, which may be the same or different, is a hydrogen atom, a hydroxyl group, a halogen atom, a cyano group, a carbamoyl group, an aralkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted amino group, a C.sub.1-6 alkyl group, a C.sub.2-6 alkenyl group, a C.sub.2-6 alkynyl group;

There is provided an ophthalmic preparation comprising a fat emulsion containing flurbiprofen or its derivative such as ester as an active ingredient.

Biphenylylpropionic acid derivatives of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R is an alkylcarbonyloxyalkyl group or an alkenylcarbonyloxyalkyl group having the formula: ##STR2## wherein R.sup.1 is an alkyl group having 1 to 15 carbon atoms or an alkenyl group having 2 to 8 carbon atoms and m is 0 or an integer of 1. The compounds have excellent anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic activities. Moreover, the compounds have no irritation, rapid and long-acting, and high safety margin.
