A vehicle wheel alignment measuring method and apparatus capable of measuring wheel alignment of a vehicle body with high accuracy without wheels mounted in an assembly line. A dummy wheel () is mounted on a wheel mounting portion () on which a wheel is not mounted. Subsequently, with a vehicle body supported, a wheel mounting portion elevating means () elevates the wheel mounting portion () via the dummy wheel (). Thereafter, an alignment measuring means () measures wheel alignment for the wheel mounting portion () on which the dummy wheel () is mounted.

Vehicle wheel alignment measuring method and apparatus

A toe angle measuring instrument comprising a measurement unit having a seating table seating a hub of a vehicle on a seating stand and movable in the lateral direction of the vehicle and in a rotating direction in plan view relative to a second base member. The toe angle measuring instrument further comprising a measured member having a vertical measurement surface extending from the seating table to the outside and non-contact distance sensors installed oppositely to the measurement surface with reference to the second base member and measuring distances (x) and (x) up to the measurement surface from two positions apart a distance (y) from each other. The measurement surface is set to face in a direction forming an acute angle relative to a lateral direction of the vehicle.

Toe angle measuring instrument and toe angle measuring method

There is provided a method and a device for measuring wheel alignment of an automobile that can quickly and precisely measure wheel alignment of the automobile without applying the same load to a wheel installation portion as that applied thereto in a finished vehicle state to improve productivity and can quickly reflect the result of wheel alignment measurement in a process of assembly of a suspension unit to the automobile. An automobile bodyis supported in such a manner that a wheel installation portioncan be lifted and lowered, and the wheel installation portionis lifted to a predetermined vertical position. During lift, a position of the wheel installation portionand the toe angle and camber angle thereof at the position are measured. The toe angle and the camber angle are corrected based on a thrust angle and an attitude angle. From the corrected toe angle and camber angle, the toe angle and the camber angle of the wheel installation portionat the position thereof in the finished vehicle state of the automobile are calculated.

Method and device for measuring wheel alignment of automobile

The invention makes it possible to measure a lateral displacement amount of a vehicle accurately in a short time on a bench testing machine without damaging a vehicle body and tires. Respective rollersF,R on which respective wheels WF, WR of the vehicle A are placed respectively are made movable in a lateral direction. In a state in which the respective wheels WF, WR are rotating at a predetermined speed, lateral forces (cornering forces) acting on the respective rollersF,R are detected by respective detectors 3. Then, a yaw angle speed when the vehicle A is brought into a state of steady circular turning is calculated based on the lateral forces acting on the respective rollersF,R and the lateral displacement amount is calculated from the yaw angle speed.

Method of measuring unilateral flow rate of vehicles

An automobile bodywith a wheel mountvertically movably mounted thereon is supported, and the wheel mountis lifted to an adjusting position which is set so as to be lower than the position that the wheel mounttakes when the automobile is running. The position of the wheel mountas it is lifted and toe and camber angles thereof are measured, and estimated values of the toe and camber angles at the position that the wheel mounttakes when the automobile is running are calculated based on the measured values. Thereafter, adjustment quantities for the toe and camber angles at the adjusting position are calculated, and wheel alignment is adjusted at the adjusting position based on the adjustment quantities. Wheel alignment of the automobile can be measured and adjusted quickly and accurately for increased productivity without applying the same load to the automobile body as the load that is applied when the automobile is running.
