A magnetic recording apparatus includes an arm, an airvane, a regulating member, and an urging member. The arm has a head slider including a magnetic head at a free end thereof, and is moved by an actuator device between a scan position and a stop position. The arm scans a surface of a disk for reading and/or writing information thereon at the scan position. The head slider is elastically supported on the arm by a flexure. The airvane is disposed adjacent to the disk, and is urged to a first position in opposition to a direction of air flow generated by rotation of the disk. The airvane moves in response to air flow generated by rotation of the disk to a second position in the direction of the air flow. The regulating member is provided at a position corresponding to the stop position of the arm and connected with the airvane. The regulating member moves between a regulating position for regulating vertical movement of the flexure by contacting the flexure and a non-regulating position for moving away from the flexure. The urging member urges the airvane to the first position so that the flexure is regulated by the regulating member when the disk is not rotating.

A magnetic recording and/or reproducing device for recording information on a disc-like magnetic recording medium and/or reproducing the information from it, said magnetic recording and/or reproducing device having a pair of magnetic head members each composed of a magnetic head chip and a slide pad for slidably holding the disc-like magnetic recording medium at its both surfaces between the pair of magnetic head members under a predetermined contact pressure, wherein the slide pad is so disposed as to surround the magnetic head chip and the top portion of the magnetic head chip is so disposed as to protrude by a predetermined amount from a sliding contact surface between the slide pad and the disc-like magnetic recording medium. It makes possible by the magnetic recording and/or reproducing device of the above described type to obtain such a desirable state in which the disc-like magnetic recording medium can be steadily held in contact with the magnetic head chips, since the slide pads act primarily to minimize the warp of the disc-like magnetic recording medium and also the deformation of the disc-like magnetic recording medium which would result from a deviation in position of one or both of the magnetic head members relative to the disc-like magnetic recording medium.

A lead face machining apparatus for machining a lead face on a cylindrical workpiece. The apparatus includes a spindle unit having the workpiece rotatably mounted on it, an end cam provided rotatably together with the spindle, a first slide table and a second slide table such that each of the spindle unit, first slide table and second slide table has a static pressure fluid bearing structure. The apparatus is further provided with means for supplying fluid to the static pressure fluid bearings in common, whereby the workpiece is least subjected to vibration produced through contact of the end cam by a lead machining unit for machining the workpiece.

A tape guide device of a rotary head type video tape recorder of the helical scanning system including a shoulder portion formed on an outer circumferential surface of a lower stationary cylindrical portion cooperating with an upper rotary cylindrical portion and constituting a head cylindrical drum for guiding a magnetic tape. The shoulder portion has, in a section thereof with which the magnetic tape is not brought into contact, a configuration consisting of a plurality of parabolic lines connected to one another. Alternatively, the offset portion may have a configuration consisting of curves which are such that their second differential coordinates are continuous over the entire circumference of the head cylindrical drum with respect to the fixed coordinate system disposed on the outer circumferential surface of the head cylindrical drum, or the shoulder portion may have a configuration consisting of curves which are such that the absolute value of the maximum value of the second differential coefficients is not equal to the absolute value of the minimum value thereof.
