A steering system for a vehicle including a fixed body secured to the body of the vehicle, a fixed shaft rotatably supported by the fixed bracket, a movable bracket connected for relative axial movement to the fixed bracket, a movable shaft rotatably supported by the movable bracket and connected to the shaft so as to be axially movable relative to the fixed shaft and rotatable as one unit with the fixed shaft, a driving mechanism disposed on the fixed bracket and connected to move the movable bracket and the movable shaft axially relative to both the fixed bracket and the fixed shaft, and a control mechanism for controlling the level of the frictional force acting between the fixed bracket and the movable bracket. The control mechanism normally maintains the frictional force at a level to ensure rigidity between the fixed and movable brackets, but is operable, upon actuation of the driving mechanism, to reduce the frictional force and thereby decrease resistance to relative axial movement of the fixed and movable brackets.

Steering system

A suspension of a vehicle includes a set of suspension arms each supporting a wheel, a subframe pivotably connected on its left and right sides with the respective suspension arms, the subframe having on its each side portions forward and rearward of a rotary axis of the wheel and six elastic mounts. The subframe is coupled on each side thereof with a car body through two of the elastic mounts disposed at lateral interval in one of the portion and one elastic mount disposed in the other of the portions.

Suspension of vehicle

A bush with a sliding surface comprising a socket, a ball-integral shaft having shaft portions on both sides of a ball portion, a bearing body location between the socket and the ball-integral shaft, and a cushion having recesses in at least one axial end portions thereof constructed of polyurethane resins or polyester resins. Excellent absorption of manufacturing tolerances of parts of the bush and easy adjustment of rotational torque of the bush in normal operating conditions are obtained through use of the bush of the present invention. Additionally, the bush can show excellent load bearing characteristics even when the bush receives large loads beyond normal operating loads. Further, the durability of the bush is improved.
