A crimping die including a first die piece having a recess portion and a second die piece having a protrusion portion is provided. An inner wall surface of the recess portion has a bottom wall surface and recess-side lateral end surfaces. An outer surface of the protrusion portion has a top end surface and protrusion-side lateral end surfaces. The bottom wall surface has a recess-side projection portion, a recess-side concave portion, and a recess-side curvature changing portion. The top end surface has a protrusion-side projection portion, a protrusion-side concave portion, and a protrusion-side curvature changing portion. A sign of curvature of the bottom wall surface changes at a boundary portion in the recess-side curvature changing portion with respect to the recess-side concave portion. A sign of curvature of the top end surface changes at a boundary portion in the protrusion-side curvature changing portion with respect to the protrusion-side concave portion.

A crimp terminal has a crimp barrel which is crimped onto a core wire of a cable. The crimp barrel has an inner surface in which a plurality of cavities which are independent from one another is formed. Each of the cavities has a predetermined shape in a plane orthogonal to a depth direction thereof before the crimp barrel is crimped onto a core wire. The predetermined shape has at least two straight portions and a concave curved portion connecting the straight portions. The concave curved portion is indented inward of the predetermined shape. A plurality of the concave curved portions which are close to each other and included respectively in the predetermined shapes distinct from each other is arranged on an identical imaginary circle or rounded rectangular.

A crimp terminal includes a crimp barrel to be crimped around a conductive core of a cable. The crimp barrel includes an inner surface which is formed with a plurality of cavities independent of one another. Each of the cavities has a predetermined shape in a plane perpendicular to a depth direction of the cavity. The predetermined shape contains a plurality of straight-line segments. Every one of the straight-line segments of the predetermined shape is not parallel with remaining ones of the straight-line segments of the predetermined shape. The straight-line segments of the predetermined shape includes at least one pair of the straight-line segments, which are closest to each other among the straight-line segments of the predetermined shape and are arranged to make an interior angle less than 90 degrees or, if not intersecting each other, are arranged on two straight lines, respectively, wherein the two straight lines make an interior angle less than 90 degrees.

A contact of which the quality of crimping of a crimp portion can be easily and accurately determined. The crimp portion of the contact includes a bottom portion that supports conductors of electrical wires, and two side portions that are continuous with opposite sides of the bottom portion and are bent such that they hold the conductors therein. Three marks are formed in an outer surface of each side portion along a longitudinal direction of the contact.

A connector adapted for connection to cables has a retaining member that aligns and retains the cables. The retaining member has a body portion and a bar-shaped member. The body portion has a plurality of fixing portions for fixedly retaining the bar-shaped member. The cables are firmly sandwiched between the body portion and the bar-shaped member.

In a crimp contact to be connected to a cable having a conductive core wire and an insulating cladding portion covering the core wire, the crimp contact has a cladding crimping portion for crimping the cladding portion and a core wire crimping portion arranged adjacent to the cladding crimping portion for crimping the core wire. The core wire crimping portion has a base portion for receiving the core wire and a first core wire barrel extending from the base portion for crimping the core wire to cover an outside of the core wire. The first core wire barrel has a relatively longer length from the base portion at a part relatively far from the cladding crimping portion and a relatively shorter length from the base portion at another part relatively near to the cladding crimping portion.

There is provided an optical fiber end face cleaner which is easy to carry and make preparations for use, facilitates cleaning operation, and what is more, makes it possible to positively remove or clear away attached materials from end faces of optical fibers without causing any of the removed materials to adhere to the end faces again. The optical fiber end face cleaner includes at least one elastic base formed by an elastic member having a flat surface of a predetermined size, and a predetermined thickness in a direction perpendicular to the surface. An adhesive layer is formed on a surface of the elastic base, for allowing the end faces of the optical fibers to be pressed against the adhesive layer to cause deposits on the end faces to adhere to the adhesive layer for removal.
