Provided are a sensor unit and function activation method that make it possible to collectively activate the functions of a plurality of sensor units. A sensor unitwhich can be connected to other sensor unitsto form a unit series, comprises an activation unitfor activating a prescribed function on the basis of a signal from the outside and a signal output unitfor outputting a trigger signal for activating a prescribed function to the outside on the basis of a signal from the outside.

An optical fiber has an incident end on which light is incident, an emitting end from which the light is emitted, and an aperture provided in a core located at or near the emitting end. The aperture is formed by irradiating the core with an ultrashort pulsed laser beam having pulse widths of 10seconds to 10seconds.

Optical fiber and manufacturing method thereof

In a sensor system including a plurality of photoelectric sensor units, a light projecting period arbitrarily determined in each type is provided and mutual interference is prevented between identical types. The sensor system includes the plurality of sensor units coupled by a connector unit while a signal can be transmitted. Each of the sensor units retains type information thereof, and sets a unique identification number by transmitting the signal to each other. Each sensor unit operates after a delay time determined according to the identification number thereof elapses with a synchronous signal as a starting point. The synchronous signal is transmitted with a predetermined period from the sensor unit having a specific identification number in the plurality of sensor units. The delay time of each sensor unit is determined such that an operating period is matched with a predetermined period determined in each piece of the type information.

Sensor system having a plurality of coupled sensors

The disclosure provides a photoelectric sensor that provides useful information to set measurement conditions. The photoelectric sensor includes a light emitting unit having a light emitting element configured to emit detection light toward a detection area, a light receiving unit having a light receiving element configured to receive the detection light from the detection area and to obtain a detection value corresponding to the amount of light received, and a display unit configured to display information about the detection value in the light receiving unit. When the detection value varies across a predetermined threshold, the display unit displays a transit time that is the time from when the detection value crosses the predetermined threshold until when it crosses the predetermined threshold again, and a variation amount of the detection value in the variation.

Photoelectric sensor

A photoelectric sensor includes a phototransmitter that outputs light toward a detection target region of an object; an optical receiver that receives the light outputted from the phototransmitter; a signal processing unit that outputs a signal indicating that the object is detected in response to a decrease of an amount of light received by the optical receiver; and two optical filters that are provided between the phototransmitter and the optical receiver to transmit only pieces of light having specific characteristics. In the phototransmitter, two kinds of light having different characteristics and that do not interfere with each other are outputted from output regions in the light transmitting surface; one of the two optical filters has a characteristic of transmitting only one of the two kinds of light and the other of the optical filters has a characteristic of transmitting only the other of the two kinds of light; the optical filters are disposed opposite to output regions of the pieces of light different from the pieces of light of a selecting target while located across a detection target region; and output directions of the two kinds of light are fixed such that whole surfaces of the optical filters corresponding to the characteristics are irradiated with the two kinds of light from the phototransmitter when the optical filters are disposed in a light transmitting surface while located away from each other by a predetermined distance or more.

A photoelectric sensor has a light projection unit having a light emission element for emitting detection light to a detection region; a light reception unit having a light reception element receiving light from the detection region to obtain a detection value corresponding to an amount of received light; a target value storage unit for storing an adjustment target value for a detection value; a sensitivity adjustment unit for adjusting a power of the detection light emitted from the light projection unit and/or a conversion factor from the amount of received light in the light reception unit to the detection value, thereby matching the detection value with the target value; and an adjustment instruction unit for instructing execution of adjustment to the sensitivity adjustment unit.
