The disclosed embodiments relate to a communication device () that implements a subset of feature choices selected from a complete set of feature choices. An exemplary embodiment comprises at least one common hardware component () common to any subset of feature choices, and a base () that is adapted to accommodate installation of at least one optional hardware component () associated with at least one feature of the complete set of feature choices.

Highly configurable radio frequency (RF) module

An emergency load control device includes a lighting relay that is coupled to a lighting load based on a relay control signal input. Further, the emergency load control device includes an emergency relay that is coupled to an emergency lighting load based on an emergency relay control signal input. Furthermore, the emergency load control device includes a power controller that is coupled to the lighting relay and the emergency relay. The power controller is configured to output the relay control signal input to the lighting relay and the emergency relay control signal input to the emergency relay to control the operation of the lighting load and the emergency lighting load respectively. In addition, the emergency load control device includes a dimmer control circuit coupled to the lighting load and the emergency lighting load. The dimmer control circuit controls dimming of the lighting load and the emergency lighting load.

Automatic emergency lighting load control

An integrated room controller includes a lighting relay that operates a lighting load based on a lighting relay input signal. Further, the integrated room controller includes a motor control relay that operates a motor associated with an adjustable skylight fixture based on a motor control relay input signal. In addition, the integrated room controller includes a microcontroller that is coupled to the lighting relay and the motor control relay. The microcontroller generates and outputs the lighting relay input signal to the lighting relay and the motor control relay input signal to the motor control relay to control the operation of the lighting load and the adjustable skylight. The integrated room controller also includes a dimmer control circuit coupled to the lighting load and actuated by the microcontroller to control dimming operations associated with the lighting load.

Integrated lighting load and skylight control

A method of manufacturing a radio frequency receiver module includes supporting a baseband processor on a base. A feature choice for the module is determined. The feature choice includes an antenna type, an RF type, or a stack type. An optional hardware component is selectively installed or omitted on the base dependent upon the determined feature choice.
