A Sorbent media exhaustion indicator produces color change when the sorbent media is saturated. The indicator's fluid inlet attach to the fluid outlet of a sorbent media device such as filter. It includes is a hollow tube or a hollow polyhedron prism that fluids flow freely through it. The indicator also includes colorimetric sensor that changes color when exposed to trace amount of toxic fluids and a trap member that prevent toxic fluids exist in the surrounding environment from changing the color of the colorimetric sensor, hence preventing false indication of sorbent media exhaustion. Another function of the trap member is to trap toxic fluids from exiting to the surrounding environment when toxic fluids breakthrough the sorbent media device.

Sorbent media exhaustion indicator

A method, system, and apparatus are provided for use with exposure protection systems or equipment such as respiratory protection devices. One system is provided for detecting a breach of an exposure protection device by an amount of a target substance. The system includes an exposure protection device that isolates a protected environment from an external environment potentially including a target substance. The device includes a protective covering that includes a substantially transparent window. The system also includes a detector or detector element for indicating the presence of the target substance. Such a detector is capable of producing a visually observable indication upon detection of the level of target substance.

System and apparatus for detecting breach of exposure protection equipment

A cold smoke generating device includes an air source that may include a hollow flexible collapsible container having an expandable and compressible cavity for accepting air and air-borne reagent therein. The collapsible container is fluidly connected with a narrow flexible extension that includes an elongated cavity or chamber. Isolated and/or free reagents are disposed within the chamber of the narrow flexible extension. These reagents are capable of reacting with each other, with atmospheric air, or with other gases and fluids to generate a visible aerosol when expelled into the surrounding air.

Smoke generating device

An end of service life indicator (ESLI) device for a fluid filter is included on the filter and visually indicates when the life of the filter has expired. The ESLI indicates the depletion of the filter by changing the color density on a surface of the device to a color density having a well distinguishable contrasting pattern that is easily recognizable even by individuals who are color-blind. The contrasting pattern may express text indicative of the state of the filter.

End of service life indicator for fluid filter

A self-appearing warning sign device and method for the manufacture of a self-appearing warning sign device including a relatively thin gas impermeable support member upon which a coating is superimposed having a composition containing one or more chromographic reagents which will cause a visible color change in the presence of a specified polluting gas. The coating has a raised thickness of between about 5-500 microns. A warning sign of defined shape is formed depositing the coating composition in a given shape identifying the presence of the polluting gas or by masking a given area to form said shape. The device also includes a hydrophobic layer and end covers in an arrangement forming a gas tight sealed enclosure except for an opening in each cover on opposite ends of the device.

Self appearing warning sign device and method of manufacture

A method for reading and analyzing a diffusion-cell colorimetric exposimeter for making a quantitative determination of the time-weighted average (TWA) exposure to airborne gases or vapors. The diffusion cell is optically scanned to form color video signal data representative of the primary color components of the image formed from the reaction of the chromophoric reagent and pollutant. The data is converted to digital data and processed to compute exposure for a given pollutant gas as a function of color intensity for at least one of the primary color components.

Method for real-time colorimetric measurement of exposure to airborne

A direct-read exposimeter for providing a visual, graded measurement of color variation corresponding to different ranges of dosage exposure to a polluting gas in the atmosphere over a given time period. The exposimeter includes a color-forming member and at least one gas-diffusion control member within an enclosure formed between a base and a cover. The cover has a number of openings exposed to the atmosphere in alignment with a number of separate diffusion zones formed in the gas-diffusion control member.
