Objects in a virtual space may need to be synchronized between different instances (or different expressions of an instance) of the virtual space that are separated spatially. Objects include characters. Different expressions may be associated with different users and different client computing platforms that are connected by a network. The actions of the same character in two expressions of the same instance of the virtual space may not be synchronized due to network delay, lag, latency, or other delays, or due to joining a session already in progress. Responsive to a determination that an object is not synchronized, a sequence of subsequent states is determined that will result in the object being synchronized.

Efficient synchronization of behavior trees using network significant nodes

A method is provided for decision streams for synchronizing visual script language processing between networked computers. A master computing device may receive a remote kickoff stream indicating master nodes to be processed on a master graph, create a master decision stream using the remote kickoff stream, process master nodes of the master graph to populate the master decision stream with states and actions during the processing, and distribute the master decision stream to clients for synchronization of private graphs. The master and private graphs may be copies of the same visual script for implementing game logic, which may be created and edited using a graphical user interface (GUI). Nodes of the graphs can be marked as master, requiring global synchronization, or private, allowing immediate local processing with reduced latency. Thus, online game designers are empowered to balance the competing concerns of state synchronization and latency.

Decision streams for synchronizing visual script language processing between networked computers

Exemplary implementations may facilitate effectuating modifications within an instance of a virtual space presented via multiple disparate client computing platforms responsive to detection of a token associated with a single client computing platform. In some implementations, tokens may be detected based on signals received from token readers associated with individual ones of the multiple client computing platforms. A given token may be a standalone physical object. The given token may be detectable based on a signal conveying information associated with the given token. The information associated with the given token conveyed by the signal may be devoid of virtual space content.

Effectuating modifications within an instance of a virtual space presented via multiple disparate client computing platforms responsive to detection of a token associated with a single client computing platform

Techniques are disclosed for using atomic agents to implement modifications to actors. The atomic agents are self-functioning and may be applied to and removed from an actor in order to modify the behavior and/or appearance of the actor. The default appearance and behavior of the actor is embedded in the program code that defines the actor. One or more atomic agents may be applied to the actor to modify the actor's appearance or behavior without requiring any communication or interaction with the program code that defines the actor. Separate program code defines each atomic agent and the compatibility between the respective atomic agent and other atomic agents.
