Openings are created between a wellbore and a formation by firing a perforating gun adjacent to a zone in the formation and the production fluids are produced along with any formation debris. A tubing string extending to the formation is pressurized to actuate the perforating gun and simultaneously to actuate a downhole injection port. Substantially immediately thereafter fluids are injected into the wellbore near the openings and circulated to the surface for the removal of debris and the production of the formation fluids. An optional and uphole injection port can be used to adjust the hydrostatic head above the perforating gun with the removal or addition of fluid prior to actuation. The tubing string extends sufficiently above the wellbore at surface to enable lowering of the downhole injection port below the openings during fluid circulation for enhanced removal of debris.

Pressure-actuated perforation with automatic fluid circulation for immediate production and removal of debris

Openings are created between a wellbore and a formation by firing a perforating gun adjacent a perforating zone in the formation and debris is removed. A tubing string extending to the formation is pressurized to a first pressure to actuate the perforating gun. A second higher pressure is applied to activate a downhole injection port. Substantially immediately thereafter fluids are injected into the wellbore near the openings and circulated to the surface for the removal of debris. An optional and uphole injection port can be used to adjust the hydrostatic head above the perforating gun with the removal or addition of fluid. The tubing string extends sufficiently above the wellbore at surface to enable lowering of the downhole injection port below the openings during fluid circulation for enhanced removal of debris.

Pressure-actuated perforation with continuous removal of debris

A damaged formation is stimulated by igniting a propellant adjacent openings in the wellbore in communication with the damaged formation. Substantially immediately thereafter, low density foam is injected adjacent the openings and circulated to the surface for the removal of debris released from the formation. A tubing string has a foam discharge port at a distal end and a foam injection port at surface. The tubing string extends sufficiently above the wellbore at surface to enable lowering of the tubing string and foam discharge port to below the openings for enhanced removal of debris.

Process of using a propellant treatment and continuous foam removal of well debris and apparatus therefore

A method and system allows periodic access the wrong way through one or more one-way valves installed in a fluid flow stream. Fluid can flow through the bypassed valves or through the tools used to bypass the valves such as those of a reciprocating production pump. A stab tool cooperates with a valve to unseat a ball from a ball seat so as to bypass the ball and pass through the ball seat. The stab tool can be conveyed by tubing for discharge of fluid through ports in the stab tool. In another aspect of the invention, a rod installed within a pump between a reciprocating uphole valve and a downhole valve is arranged so that when the pump is closed, the stab tool at the rod's lower end passes through the downhole valve and a projection at the rod's upper end passed though the uphole valve the pump is partially closed. Fluid can be pumped in reverse through the pump fluidize debris.

For extracting a liquid (such as oil) from a porous medium, the liquid is subjected to pulses that propagate through the liquid flowing through the pores of the medium. The pulses cause momentary surges in the velocity of the liquid, which keeps the pores open. The pulses can be generated in the production well, or in a separate excitation well. If the pulses travel with the liquid, the velocity of travel of the liquid through the pores can be increased. The solid matrix is kept stationary, and the pulses move through the liquid. The pulses in the liquid can be generated directly in the liquid, or indirectly in the liquid via a localized area of the solid matrix.
