Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which different component carriers (CCs) or bandwidth parts (BWPs) of a system operating according to carrier aggregation may be configured with different transmission configuration indicator (TCI) states. A base station may transmit control information to a user equipment (UE) to activate two or more CCs, and that indicates two or more different sets of TCI states that are activated for the two or more CCs. The control information may be transmitted to the UE in a single MAC-CE. The single MAC-CE to activate different sets of TCI states at CCs or BWPs may allow for a reduced number of MAC-CEs used for conveying the set of active TCI states for the CCS or BWPs.

Transmission configuration indicator state activation techniques for carrier aggregation

Techniques and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a first message from a network entity that indicates a configuration for reporting spatial domain basis function updates to the network entity. The UE may transmit a full channel state information (CSI) report and a partial CSI report to the network entity based on the indicated configuration. The full CSI report may indicate a set of spatial domain basis functions and the partial CSI report may indicate an update for the set of spatial domain basis functions. The update for the set of spatial domain basis functions may be relative to the full CSI report or a previously transmitted partial CSI report. In some examples, the UE may receive a second message from the network entity based on the partial CSI report.

Techniques for spatial domain basis function refinement

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a downlink beam indication for at least one of a channel, a resource, a resource set, a bandwidth part, or a component carrier; and use the downlink beam indication for a group of channels, resources, resource sets, bandwidth parts, or component carriers. In some aspects, a UE may receive an indication of a spatial relation and multiple physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) resources to which the spatial relation is to be applied; and use the spatial relation to transmit on one or more PUCCH resources of the multiple PUCCH resources. Numerous other aspects are provided.

Group-based beam indication and signaling

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for beam failure detection and recovery. A method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE) includes monitoring one or more reference signals for beam failure detection for a plurality of component carriers (CCs), detecting a beam failure for a subset of one or more CCs of the plurality of CCs based on the one or more reference signals, generating a beam failure recovery request (BFRQ) indicating that a beam failure has occurred for the plurality of CCs in response to the detection of the beam failure for the subset of one or more CCs, and transmitting the BFRQ.

Joint failure of component carrier (CC) groups

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may generate a recommendation for a first codebook that is for a single transmit receive point (TRP) and that does not include a time domain (TD) or Doppler domain (DD) basis, or for a second codebook that is for multiple TRPs or that includes a TD or DD basis. The UE may transmit the recommendation. Numerous other aspects are described.

Codebook selection

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a control message triggering the UE to perform an iterative joint beam pair selection procedure for selecting a receive beam and a transmission beam. In some cases, the UE may additionally receive control signaling from the base station configuring the UE to generate a measurement report associated with the receive beam (e.g., that is associated with a first and second port of the UE). The UE may then receive a reference signal via the receive beam. Based on receiving the reference signal, the UE may transmit the measurement report to the base station, where the measurement report indicates at least one measurement, a first resource index corresponding to the first port of the UE, and a second resource index corresponding to the second port of the UE.

Measurement reporting for multi-port receive beams

This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for beamforming in wireless communications. Some implementations more specifically relate to beamforming configurations for multicast communications. A transmitting device may transmit multicast data to multiple receiving devices, concurrently, via a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH). The PDSCH may be preceded by a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH). The PDCCH may provide scheduling information for the PDSCH, including a multicast beam associated with the PDSCH and a timing offset or delay between the PDCCH and the PDSCH. A receiving device may determine that the PDSCH contains multicast data based on an indication in the PDCCH. To receive the PDSCH, each receiving device may tune its antennas in a direction of the scheduled multicast beam or a default beam based on the delay between the PDCCH and the PDSCH.

Beamforming in multicast communications

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for transmitting precoding matrix indicators (PMIs) for rank indications (RIs) and receiving coherent joint transmission (CJT) channels based on the PMIs. A method that may be performed at a user equipment (UE) includes outputting, for transmission, a report comprising a precoding matrix indicator (PMI) for a rank indication (RI); and obtaining, based on the PMI, a coherent joint transmission (CJT) physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) having a rank, M, less than or equal to the RI.

Unified precoding and channel state indication enhancement

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a control message indicating at least two precoding matrices and a set of weighting coefficients. The at least two precoding matrices and the set of weighting coefficients may be indicated to the UE for deriving a precoder for uplink transmission from the at least two precoding matrices. The UE may derive the precoder for transmission of an uplink message based on interpolating or extrapolating the at least two precoding matrices using the set of weighting coefficients. The UE may transmit the uplink message. The uplink message may be precoded using the precoder.

Precoder prediction for uplink transmission enhancement

Apparatus, methods, and computer-readable media for facilitating spatial relation indication for uplink control channels and SRS are disclosed herein. An example method for wireless communication at a UE includes determining, based on a rule, a default uplink transmit beam for transmitting an uplink transmission when an uplink transmit beam is not configured by a base station for the uplink transmission. The example method also includes transmitting, to the base station, the uplink transmission on the default uplink transmit beam.

Methods and apparatus to facilitate spatial relation indication for uplink control channel and sounding reference signals

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (LIE) may select uplink communication resources to be used to transmit enhanced uplink control information (UCI) to a base station based at least in part on a size of a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) codebook and an enhancement number, and transmit the enhanced UCI using the selected uplink communication resources, the enhanced UCI comprising a set of feedback bits and a set of enhancement bits, the set of feedback bits comprising at least one negative acknowledgement (NACK) bit, and wherein the set of enhancement hits indicate information associated with the at least one NACK bit. Numerous other aspects are provided.

UCI enhancement for uplink transmission

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive, via a first carrier, an indication of an offset for scheduling a reference signal on a second carrier, wherein the offset indicates a duration between downlink control information (DCI), that schedules the reference signal, and the reference signal; determine a first numerology of the first carrier and a second numerology of the second carrier; and determine a time offset for the reference signal based at least in part on the offset and at least one of the first numerology, the second numerology, or both the first numerology and the second numerology. Cross-carrier reference signal scheduling offset and threshold determination

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless node (e.g., a vehicle mounted integrated access and backhaul (IAB) node) may aid in wireless communication between one or more wireless devices operating in a high-speed environment (e.g., on a high-speed train (HST)) and one or more network entities. The wireless node may transmit one or more reference signals associated with a Doppler estimation procedure to the one or more network entities. The network entities may use the one or more reference signals to generate a set of Doppler compensation parameters to use while communicating with the wireless node and the one or more wireless devices. In some examples, the wireless node may receive control information or data from the one or more wireless devices, aggregate the information, and transmit the aggregated information to the one or more network entities on behalf of the wireless devices.

Beam specific pre-compensation for wireless devices in a high speed single frequency network

Apparatus, methods, and computer-readable media for facilitating beam management enhancements in model-based channel tracking are disclosed herein. An example method for wireless communication at a first network entity includes receiving from a second network entity, a model configuration indicative of a model condition of a channel between the first network entity and the second network entity for multiple beam pairs. The example method also includes tracking a variation in a channel condition relative to the model condition of the channel based on the model configuration for each of multiple beam pairs separately in multiple tracking sessions that overlap in time. Each beam pair may include a transmission beam and a reception beam.

Beam management enhancements in model-based channel tracking

Aspects relate to techniques for activating transmission configuration indicator (TCI) states based on a TCI state update list including a plurality of component carriers. A TCI state activation message for a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) can include two TCI states for single frequency network (SFN) operation of a control resource set (CORESET) associated with a serving cell ID. A user equipment (UE) may receive the TCI state activation message and activate at least one of the two TCI states for each component carrier in the TCI state update list in response to the TCI state update list including the serving cell ID and based on a respective SFN configuration of each of the component carriers.
