A base station may sense, on a cell using unlicensed spectrum, that the unlicensed spectrum is available for transmission. The base station may transmit, after sensing that the unlicensed spectrum is available, consecutive subframes. Each subframe may include a physical downlink control channel and a physical downlink shared channel.

Wireless operation in unlicensed spectrum

A method and apparatus are described for supporting a two-stage device-to-device (D2D) discovery using a D2D interworking function (IWF). A D2D IWF component may be configured to perform mapping between an application running on an application server and a third generation partnership project (3GPP) network, and provide a set of application programming interfaces (APIs) to allow discovery to be provided as a service to D2D applications. An application identifier may be mapped to a 3GPP identifier. Further, a method and apparatus are described for performing client-server discovery. A first wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may be configured for a listen-only operation, and a second WTRU may be configured to transmit beacons. The first and second WTRUs may perform a radio access network (RAN) discovery procedure at an access stratum (AS) layer. A method and apparatus for performing charging for D2D service using a D2D IWF are also described.

Method and apparatus for supporting proximity discovery procedures

A method for WTRU autonomous resource selection may comprise receiving a TX resource pool for D2D communication from a base station. The WTRU may sense one or more resources of the TX resource pool and determine resources for transmission of control information and D2D data, based on the sensing. The WTRU may then transmit, to another WTRU, the control information and the D2D data on the determined resources.

Methods to enable scheduling and control of direct link communication in cellular communication systems

Systems and methods for enabling proximity services to be delivered as part of an application service and/or for providing tailored services and/or a differential quality of service (QoS) to a flow may be disclosed. For example, a temporary service name between an application and a server such as a D2D server may be established such that a UE and/or network may execute such a service at a later time without later involvement by the application and/or without exchanging credentials for the application with the network and vice versa.

Systems and methods for personalizing and/or tailoring a service interface

A method and apparatus for neighbor discovery in a wireless communication system are disclosed. A neighbor seeking wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may search for a first signal to discover neighbor WTRUs for peer-to-peer communication. The WTRU may then receive the first signal. Further, the WTRU may generate a report based on the received first signal. Then, the WTRU may send a second signal carrying the report to a cellular wireless network. The first signal may include a beacon for neighbor discovery or a synchronization signal or both. The report may contain at least one neighbor WTRU identity or at least a portion of a time value or both. Further, the report may contain a counter value, including at least a portion of a time value. The counter value may be based on a time source. In addition, the first signal may be received from a synchronization source.

Method and device for providing a correction parameter for correction of channel state information

A method and apparatus for enabling scheduling and control of direct link communication in a cellular communication system may be disclosed. A method for use in a first wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may include transmitting a request for device-to-device (D2D) communication resources to an enhanced Node B (eNB). The first WTRU may receive an allocation of resources for multiple transmission time intervals (TTI) to be used for D2D communications from the eNB. The first WTRU may schedule D2D communications with a second WTRU to be performed during the allocated resources. The first WTRU may perform D2D communications with the second WTRU using half duplex communications during the allocated resources.

A grant that includes a resource allocation for a subframe set may be communicated. The subframe set may include a subframe resource and another subframe resource following the subframe resource. Sensing, during a sensing time prior to utilization of the subframe resource, that the unlicensed spectrum is available may be performed. Transmitting, based on the sensing, data on the subframe resource and the another subframe resource without further sensing may also be performed.

Wireless operation in license exempt spectrum

A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may receive discovery related configuration information that includes discovery filtering information and information for a non-long term evolution radio access technology (non-LTE RAT). The WTRU may monitor a device to device (D2D) communication interface on the non-LTE RAT based on the discovery filtering information and send a report that includes information associated with the discovery filtering information. The WTRU may receive a message to allow the WTRU to establish a D2D communication link with another WTRU using the non-LTE RAT.

Method and apparatus for device-to-device (D2D) mobility in wireless systems

Channel quality may be measured in a device-to-device (D2D) communication network. The D2D communication network may include one or more D2D wireless transmit/receive units (WTRUs), wherein the D2D WTRUs may communicate using a D2D bandwidth. A D2D WTRU may receive a channel measurement resource configuration corresponding to a channel measurement resource. The D2D WTRU may further receive an RS on the channel measurement resource. The D2D WTRU may measure one or more channel state parameters from the channel measurement resource for a part of bandwidth overlapping with a D2D communication bandwidth, when the RS bandwidth is greater than the D2D communication bandwidth. The D2D WTRU may report the channel state parameters to a controlling entity. The controlling entity may configure a D2D frequency allocation between a transmitting device and a receiving device. The D2D frequency allocation may be based on the time averaged measurement.
