Apparatuses and methods are described for determining displacement and/or rotation of a Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), including, but not limited to, determining a first Time of Flight (ToF) for audio signals transmitted by an audio transmitter of the UAV and received by a first audio receiver of the UAV while the UAV is in motion, determining a second ToF for the audio signals transmitted by the audio transmitter and received by a second audio receiver of the UAV while the UAV is in motion, and determining the displacement or the rotation of the UAV based, at least in part, on the first ToF and the second ToF.

Techniques for performing system searches to find a suitable cell to receive full service while camped on a cell with limited service are described. Initially, a user equipment (UE) may camp on a first cell and receive limited service. The UE may perform a system search in background to find a suitable cell to receive full service. By performing the system search in background, the UE can receive paging messages and perform cell reselection and/or other tasks while the system search is pending and may also be able to obtain limited service with little or no delay when requested by a user. The UE may suspend the system search prior to each paging occasion, receive paging messages applicable for the UE, and then resume the system search. The UE may receive a request for limited service (e.g., emergency call), suspend or abort the system search, and obtain the requested limited service.

System search for full service while on a cell with limited service

A method of adjusting a carrier sense threshold to avoid hidden nodes during wireless broadcast. The method includes monitoring a load of the peer-to-peer network before broadcasting a message from a node. The method also includes adjusting a carrier sense threshold (CST) based on the load of the peer-to-peer network to avoid broadcast message collisions due to one or more hidden nodes.

Apparatus and method are provided for performing asynchronous discovery among multiple peers in a wireless peer-to-peer (P2P) network. In an aspect of the disclosure, a peer selects a duty cycle C corresponding to a probability that the peer is in either a scanning state or an advertising state, rather than a sleeping state, wherein the duty cycle C is selected in accordance with a power consumption of the peer. The peer also selects a first probability Pfor being in the advertising state, and performs an asynchronous discovery protocol in accordance with the duty cycle C and the first probability P.

Content management in peer-to-peer systems

Systems and methods for scalable discovery in contention-based peer-to-peer (P2P) networks are described herein. A method for managing access to a contention-based broadcast channel in a P2P wireless communication network as described herein includes obtaining one or more system timing parameters, the system timing parameters including at least a collision probability tolerance; and configuring a time structure for access to the contention-based broadcast channel using the system timing parameters, wherein the wakeup intervals are allocated between a contention period and a non-contention period and configuring the time structure comprises setting an upper-bound backoff counter value associated with the contention period as a function of at least the collision probability tolerance.

Scalable discovery in contention-based peer-to-peer wireless networks

Techniques for sending information without interruption during a change in ciphering configuration are described. A user equipment (UE) communicates with a wireless communication network for a call. The UE sends first information to the wireless network using a first ciphering configuration. For a change in ciphering configuration, the UE selects an activation time for a second ciphering configuration and sends a security message with the activation time. This activation time is the time at which the UE applies the second ciphering configuration to transmission sent to the wireless network. The UE thereafter sends second information (e.g., a measurement report message) using the first ciphering configuration after sending the security message and before the activation time. The UE sends third information using the second ciphering configuration after the activation time.

Uninterrupted transmission during a change in ciphering configuration

An access terminal () reacquires a system frame number (SFN) when a difference between a continuous counter elapsed time () and a calculated elapsed time () exceeds a threshold. The continuous counter elapsed time () is generated by a continuous counter () remaining active during a sleep state of the access terminal () and the calculated elapsed time () is based on a SFN derived from a counter value generated by a discontinuous counter () that is deactivated during the sleep state. In one aspect, the continuous counter () may be clocked by a continuous clock () during a sleep mode and the discontinuous counter () may be clocked by a faster clock () that is deactivated during the sleep mode. During reactivation after the sleep mode, the discontinuous counter () is set, at the counter set time, to a reset counter value () corresponding to an SFN indicated by the continuous counter ().
