An electronic device and method of operating an electronic device are provided. The electronic device includes a memory storing a forbidden public land mobile network (FPLMN) list including a node to which access of the electronic device is blocked, a communication circuit, and a communication processor configured to receive, through a first node, a handover command signal, search for a second node to which handover is to be performed, based on information included in the handover command signal, identify whether the second node is in the FPLMN list, based on system information broadcast by the second node and including information of multiple public land mobile networks (PLMNs), in case the second node is included in the FPLMN list, transmit a tracking area update (TAU) request signal to the second node, and connect to the second node according to reception of an accept message corresponding to the TAU request signal.

Electronic device for performing handover and operation method thereof

In an electronic device and a method for operating an electronic device according to various embodiments of the disclosure, the electronic device may include: a first communication circuit configured to support first cellular communication; a second communication circuit configured to support second cellular communication; and a processor, and the processor may be configured to: control the second communication circuit such that the first cellular communication connection is released and the second cellular communication connection is performed or the second cellular communication connection is maintained in response to reception and/or transmission of a call connection request message while being connected to a network, determine, in response to termination of the call connection, whether to release the second cellular communication based on whether at least one condition including a condition related to whether a system information block receivable via the second cellular communication is received is satisfied, and perform the first cellular communication connection based on information for the first cellular communication connection included in the system information block.

Electronic device for performing connection to node based on status of network and method for the same

An electronic device may include at least one communication processor and an application processor. The at least one communication processor is configured to: receive first system information including information on whether at least one node supporting first cellular communication supports DC or second system information including information on a node which is adjacent to the at least one node and supports second cellular communication, from the at least one node via the first cellular communication; update, based on the first or second system information, a database which includes information indicating whether the at least one node supports the DC and information indicating whether the node adjacent to the at least one node supports the second cellular communication; determine, based on the updated database, a searching order of at least one node included in the updated database; and search for a node to be registered, based on the determined searching order.
