An ink-jet printing machine has: a transfer belt that transfers a printing sheet; a sheet feeding unit that feeds the printing sheet; an ink-jet head that performs ink ejection on the printing sheet; a SS roller that presses a central region of the printing sheet between the sheet feeding unit and the ink-jet head; a printing sheet sensor that detects the deformation of the printing sheet; and a guide roller that presses the printing sheet. The rate of a distance A between the SS roller and the printing sheet sensor to a distance B between the upper surface of a transfer belt and the lower end of the printing sheet sensor is approximately equal to the rate of a distance A' between the guide roller and the ink-jet head to a distance B&#x2032; between the upper surface of the transfer belt and the lower end of the ink-jet head.

When a stencil sheet (M) is wound around an outer peripheral surface of a rotary cylindrical drum ( ) in accordance with a rotation thereof, a leading end of the stencil sheet (M) is retained by a clamp plate ( ) provided on the rotary cylindrical drum ( ), and the stencil sheet (M) is conveyed while being guided by upper and lower guide plates ( ) and nipped between the lower guide plate ( ) and a supporting member ( ) attached to an underside of a swinging member ( ). In a stencil printer, an elastic member is provided on a master conveying path from a roll of master sheet to a master pinch drum. The elastic member is pressed against the master sheet to apply back tension to the master sheet when the master sheet is moved by rotation of the master pinch drum after the leading end of the master sheet has been clamped to the clamp portion of the master pinch drum.

An image forming apparatus of the present invention is provided with a platen roller, a head capable of being pressed against the platen roller and forming an image onto a recording medium, a first impelling member impelling so as to press the head against the platen roller, an impelling roller capable of being pressed against the platen roller, and a second impelling member impelling so as to press the impelling roller against the platen roller. Here, while the head is pressed against the platen roller by use of the first impelling member and the recording medium supplied between the head and the platen roller is pressed, and while the impelling roller is pressed against the platen roller by use of the second impelling member, the recording medium is transported as the image is formed on the recording medium.
