A hair rinse composition which comprises at least one cationic surface active agent and a decomposition derivative of a keratin material which have been dissolved or dispersed in a suitable solvent. The decomposition derivative is a member selected from hydrolysates of keratin material, alkali salts of decomposition products obtained by oxidation of keratin material, alkali salts of derivatives at a thiol group of decomposition products obtained by reduction of keratin material and a mixture thereof.

A pre-shampoo type hair treatment composition is described which comprises at least one decomposition derivative of keratin material selected from hydrolysates of keratin material, alkali salts of decomposition products obtained by oxidation of keratin material and alkali salts of derivatives at the thiol group of decomposition products obtained by reduction of keratin material, the at least one decomposition derivative having been dissolved or dispersed in suitable solvent.

Pre-shampoo type hair treatment composition

A hair setting composition is described which comprises at least one of decomposition products obtained by oxidation of keratin materials and derivatives at a thiol group of decomposition products obtained by reduction of keratin materials, and at least one of alkanolamines and basic amino acids. The member is dissolved in a polar solvent in an amount of 0.01 to 10 wt. % of the composition. The base is contained in a weight ratio to the member of 0.02 to 0.7:1.

A shampoo composition is provided which is of the type which comprises a shampoo base containing at least one anionic surface active agent and a decomposition derivative of keratin material. The decomposition derivative is one or more of (1) decomposition products obtained by oxidation of keratin materials and derivatives at a thiol group of decomposition products obtained by reduction of keratin material.

A sizing composition of the spraying type comprises from 2 to 10% by weight of a modified starch, of which a 4% aqueous solution has a viscosity of 5 to 30 centipoises at 20.degree. C., and 0.3 to 7% by weight of dipropylene glycol. It is improved in respect to ironing properties.

A fabric sizing emulson composition is obtained by emulsion polymerization of a vinyl monomer in the presence of a cationic polymer and a non-ionic water-soluble polymer, the resulting vinyl polymer having a cationic nitrogen content of 0.004 to 0.2% by weight based on the vinyl polymer. The obtained sizing agent is used by diluting it with water to a relatively large extent.

An aerosol starch composition consists essentially of 5 to 30 wt % of a propellant and 70 to 95 wt % of a liquid composition consisting essentially of 2 to 10 wt % of a modified starch, 0.1 to 2 wt % of a poorly water-soluble polyalkylene glycol or derivative thereof and the balance is water.

A household starch composition comprises an emulsion prepared by emulsion-polymerizing a vinyl monomer in an aqueous solution of polyvinyl alcohol, nonionic modified starch or nonionic cellulose derivative in the presence of a cationic vinyl polymer or a ring-closed polymer of a cationic diallyl compound by using a cationic surface active agent or a cationic monomer or both thereof. Another composition comprises an emulsion obtained by emulsion-polymerizing a vinyl monomer in an aqueous solution of a nonionic water-soluble polymer in the presence of a cationic cellulose or cationic starch by using a cationic surface active agent or a cationic monomer or both thereof.

Sodium percarbonate or sodium perborate of high specific volume is prepared by mixing sodium carbonate or sodium borate, or an aqueous solution thereof, with aqueous hydrogen peroxide, in the presence of an anionic surface active agent in an amount exceeding the critical concentration for micelle formation.

Sodium percarbonate is stabilized by a metal chelating agent which will produce a chelate compound insoluble or slightly soluble in water. Such metal chelating agent is dispersed in the reaction mixture with the aid of a surface active agent when sodium carbonate and hydrogen peroxide are reached and the crystals of sodium percarbonate are separated out.
