There is provided a resin cage of a tapered roller bearing. The cage includes a small diameter annular portion, a large diameter annular portion, and a plurality of bar portions arranged at intervals in a circumferential direction to connect the annular portions. The bar portion has a pair of circumferentially-directed side surfaces, each having a roller guide surface, and an inner-side inner peripheral surface, a circumferential width of which is smaller on a side of the large diameter annular portion than on a side of the small diameter annular portion, and has a roller retaining region in which a radially outer side pocket width and a radially inner side pocket width between the opposed circumferentially-directed side surfaces of the adjacent bar portions are smaller than a diameter of the roller.

Tapered roller bearing resin cage and tapered roller bearing

A tapered roller bearing improves durability during a state of insufficient lubrication by sufficiently lengthening the time until rotation becomes impossible due to seizure. Oil retaining concave sections, recessed outward in the radial direction, are formed in portions on the inner circumferential surface of a large-diameter rim section of the retainer whose phase in the circumferential direction coincides with the pockets. A portion of the bottom surface of each of the oil retaining concave sections, open to the inside surface of the pocket, face a concave section formed in an end surface on the large-diameter side of tapered roller that is held inside the pocket. When lubrication becomes insufficient, oil remaining in the concave sections is effectively used for lubricating areas of sliding contact between the end surfaces on the large-diameter side and the inside surface in the axial direction of a large-diameter side flange section.

An encodera characteristic of which is changed alternately at an equal interval in a circumferential direction is supported/fixed onto a hubconcentrically with the hub. A hub unit for wheel is described, with an outer ring having two bearing tracks on its inner circumferential surface, and a hub having a wheel mount flange on the outer end side and an end portion on the axially vehicle center side. The hub has a first bearing track corresponding to the axially vehicle outer end side bearing track of the outer ring, and an inner ring element fitted on the end portion side of the hub. The inner ring element has on its outer circumference a second bearing track opposed to the axially vehicle center side bearing track of the outer ring, and is fixed on the end portion by plastically deforming the end portion of the hub radially outwardly. Rolling members are provided between the two bearing tracks of the outer ring and the first and second bearing tracks.

A telescopic shaft for steering of a vehicle is assembled in a steering shaft and includes a male shaft and a female shaft that are so fitted as not to be rotatable but to be slidable. Rolling members are fitted through an elastic body for pre-load between at least a pair of axially-extending grooves formed in an outer peripheral surface of the male shaft and in an inner peripheral surface of the female shaft. A slide member is fitted in between at least another pair of axially-extending grooves formed in the outer peripheral surface of the male shaft and in the inner peripheral surface of the female shaft. When a steering toque is equal to or smaller than a predetermined level, the elastic body for the pre-load exhibits a low rigidity characteristic as the elastic body performs pre-load action. When the steering torque is equal to or larger than the predetermined level, the slide member exhibits a high rigidity characteristic as the slide member engages with the pair of axially extending grooves.

It is intended that the rotation resistance is decreased while the durability and seal performance are kept in the rolling bearing unit with seal ring. The most thin wall-thickness portionis provided in the vicinity of the base end of the seal lipprojecting laterally in sliding contact with the mating surface. The most thick wall thickness portionis provided adjacent to the most thin wall thickness portionon the tip end side. The thickness is gradually decreased from the most thick wall thickness portionto the tip end. Further, the ratios of thickness in the respective portionsare properly controlled.

Seal ring and rolling bearing unit with seal ring

In a toroidal-type continuously variable transmission, there is provided a thrust rolling bearing interposed between a power roller and a trunnion for supporting a thrust-direction load applied to the power roller. The thrust rolling bearing includes a plurality of rolling elements and a retainer rollably holding the plurality of rolling elements. The retainer defines a circular-ring-shaped main body and a plurality of pockets respectively formed in the main body for rollably holding the plurality of rolling elements. A clearance between the pocket and the rolling element is set in the range of 0.6 to 6.0% of the ball diameter of the rolling element.
